Students at Porter have been eager to jump in to the new Engineering curriculum. They have enjoyed applying the math and science they learn in the regular classroom to solve problems using the engineering design process. Seventh grade students, after honing their measuring skills, work through the engineering design process and use design and modeling software to create various 3D models. Part of the design process requires the creation of a prototype. Currently, they present a 2D copy of their 3D design. A 3D printer would take this a step in to the 21st century, providing a true 3D prototype of their design. Talk about a true œreal world experience!
