Poetry Pals
Funded Mar 10, 2012I told my students this morning that we were getting more goodies from our friends at Donors Choose and their elation was priceless. They exclaimed, "Who are these people?" Another one asked, "Where do they get all that money?" I cannot tell you the impact your generous gifts have made on my students. Yes, you are providing them with AMAZING opportunities through the materials you are providing, but you are also showing them that there are people in the world with giving hearts who care about them. I cannot wait to get the words of these famous poets in their hands. Poetry effects every aspect of their Language Arts learning. The Hip Hop poetry CD is only going to add to the excitement that my students already have for poetry. Your gift will last for years to come as I teach this unit. Thank you so much for your generosity. It will not be forgotten!!! ”

I See...I See!
Funded Feb 27, 2012The impact of your donation to this project will be long lasting. My plan is to scan in many picture books, read-a-louds, maps from textbooks, student work, etc. to display on my Promethean Board. I can hardly wait for this scanner to arrive because I know that it will be a great tool to enhance every subject that I teach. Science will be impacted because I can scan in student charts and diagrams from experiments. Social Studies will benefit due to maps and old photos that can quickly be displayed. In math I will be able to quickly show work samples from various sources. ELA will be forever changed because my class read alouds will be on a 72 inch board instead of the tiny pages of a book. Thank you seems like such a small phrase to say for a project that is going to make such a huge difference in our classroom. Your generosity will not be forgotten! ”

The Drum Speaks
Funded Feb 23, 2012The beat of an African Djembe Drum invites encouragement and praise into a classroom. Because of your generosity, my classroom will be filled with its uplifting sound. Words cannot express my gratitude to all of you for your support of this classroom project. I can hardly wait for the day that it arrives. The students will no doubt be excited to bang away beat after beat. I hope that you will consider sponsoring future projects for my kiddos. They are the most amazing bunch of students, and they deserve the best. Today, you partnered with me in giving them exactly that! Your generosity will not be forgotten!”

Back to the Future: Part 4
Funded Feb 19, 2012Thank you so much for becoming a partner with me as I strive to educate the best and brightest students in South Carolina. It is my privilege to be a Public School teacher. I take my profession very seriously, and I am proud to be a "nation builder." Today, you became a nation builder with your gift to my classroom. These books about the Civil War will help my students to understand the history of our great nation, and in turn, they will become nation builders through their journey in education. These books will be used for years to come and will impact many students. Your generosity will not be forgotten and it's effects will reach far and wide as my students grow and become proud citizens of our great country! ”

Back To The Future
Funded Jan 14, 2012This is my first year teaching 3rd grade. I have mainly been an early childhood teacher for the last 9 years so moving up in grades left me needing lots of instructional materials for my classroom. These books will help me to fill that need for materials. Specifically, this set of books will help me to teach younger students about the very adult topic of slavery during the foundation of our country. The subject is very difficult for younger students to grasp, but it is required by our state standards. I previewed this book at a local Barnes and Noble and realized it would be a perfect tool to teach this subject. The books are written on third to fourth grade reading level so it is a perfect edition to our classroom library. I cannot thank you enough for partnering with me as I strive to meet the needs of my students. They are the best and deserve the best. Your generosity will not be forgotten. Check back here often and give again when you can. The pics will be up soon!”

Boomwhacker!
Funded Dec 21, 2011After 9 years of teaching, this is my first year in 3rd grade. It was literally like starting over in my career. Yes, I had many teaching tricks up my sleeves, but all the cool teaching aides that I had accumulated in the younger grades was not applicable in 3rd. I have made countless trips to yard sales, church fundraisers, and Wal-Mart in search of all kinds of items to make my lessons pop and engage students so that authentic learning takes place. These Boomwhackers are going to be a hit in my 3rd grade unit on sound. I cannot wait to teach about pitch and volume using these great musical tools. We will surely perform many songs along with CDs as we explore the world of science and sound through music. Thank you so much for generously funding this entire project. It was only posted for a few days. Your investment in my classroom will not be forgotten. I have already posted another proposal for an African Djembe Drum from your catalog. I hope that is it funded soon! Stop by and visit my other musical projects soon. Thank you so much for your partnership!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Music Empowers Foundation and one other donor."Egg"spert
Funded Nov 29, 2011I am sitting in my classroom right now. The students are actively engaged in their morning work and I am about to tell them that we are getting a wireless Eggspert. I wish so badly that you could be here! They will be so ecstatic! This tool will make learning so much more fun than it already is in my room. The opportunities for learning will be limitless. The current Eggspert system we have has numerous cords and is very cumbersome to set up. I often spend over half of my planning time getting the game set up. This wireless one will make set up and storage so easy that we will double the amount of time we use it!!!! The Eggspert game system makes for great review games prior to assessments, and in many cases can actually be used as an assessment rather than the traditional paper and pencil test. There are not enough words to express my thanks for this partnership. I hope that you will visit my projects often and continue to partner with me in the future as I teach the best bunch of kids in the whole country!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Duke Energy - Carolinas and 7 other donors.Mr. D. Goes Green!
Funded Dec 22, 2011I am so excited to get these new white boards, markers, and erasers. I have had the same set for 10 years now and it was definitely time for an upgrade. I have replaced markers twice already this year because we use them so much so this class set will really help. As far as erasers go, we have always used paper towels. Thanks to this project we will greatly reduce the amount of paper used in my classroom. I hope by using dry erase boards that I will teach my students to always seek out functional and practical ways to decrease the amount of waste that leaves our room. Since the beginning of the year, students in my room have become "green" thinkers and this will only further thinking in regards to helping the environment. The boards will be used in all academic areas for skills and drills practice, as well as reviews for assessments and end of the year tests. Thank you so much for partnering with me in this project. You generosity and kindness will not be forgotten. Please stop by my page and check other projects you may wish to donate to. ”

Funded Dec 9, 2011I cannot think of enough words that are adequate to describe how grateful I am for your generosity towards this project. When I posted this, I honestly did not believe it would be funded. I put it out there because my principal had just challenged me to dream bigger with DC. I went home, logged into Donors Choose, sent the proposal and dreamed. Literally 2 weeks later, the dream became a reality. I was ECSTATIC when I found out. I was actually on an overnight field trip with students when I learned that it was funded. I could not stop telling every person I passed! This iPad will be used in so many ways in my classroom. Every subject will feel the effects of this proposal, not to mention every student! Soon, you will see the pictures of my kiddos, and I know that you will share my excitement even more than you do now. I can hardly wait for you to see them. The iPad will be used for years to come and your generosity will not be forgotten. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

To The Beat Of A Different Drum
Funded Dec 31, 2011WOW! You all made my day last week when then funds for this project started coming in. It was like Christmas all over again as I sat there and refreshed the page to see the donations coming in one after another. I cannot wait to get this drum in my classroom. My classroom is already an exciting place, but this drum is sure to carry my students to sheer madness! The day I visited The Ron Clark Academy and witnessed first hand the excitement a Djembe Drum brought to their classrooms, I told myself, "YOU MUST GET ONE!" My excitement was deterred when I realized the drums cost 200 dollars. Thanks to your team work and overwhelming generosity, 200 dollars came so quickly. Thank you seems so insufficient for such an extraordinary thing you all did for my students. I am humbled by your thoughtfulness, and honored that you trust me to deliver the amazing teaching to my students. It truly is my privilege to be an educator. Your partnership with me in this journey makes it an even greater joy!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Dearybury
