Hokki Hangout 3
Funded Dec 7, 2012WOW!!! I have wanted some of these stools for quite some time. After reading lots about them and talking with other educators, I have learned that these are great stools for students who like to move a lot while sitting. I cannot tell you what this will mean for some of my students who struggle to focus because they cannot sit in chair. I myself struggle to focus during faculty meeting because of the hard wooden chairs. I am confident that these chairs will change the educational path of some of my students. 2nd grade is a crucial year when learning to read. Focus is vital. These stools will help my students to remain "tuned in" to their reading practice as they sit in the reading nook. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have these stools, and I owe it all to you and your generous heart!”

21st Century Journaling
Funded Oct 28, 2012The styluses arrived today! My kids could hardly contain their excitement. Honestly, neither could I. Immediately they were wanting...no begging, to do math problems and fix me sentences with the Screen Chomp app on our iPads. How could I say no? We spent a long time learning and improving our iPad, math, and language skills thanks to the arrival of our DC package. The styluses are sure to provide ample learning opportunities throughout the rest of the year, and I owe it all to generous donors who partnered with my students and me. I love to read the names of the donors. Some of you I know personally. Some of you I have never met. But together, we desire to positively impact children in their educational journey. For that, I say thank you!”

Typing On Tuesdays
Funded Oct 5, 2012I am so grateful for the donation you made to my classroom. Having Microsoft Office on the laptops in my classroom will open so many doors for my second graders. Recently, our state adopted the Common Core standards. As part of those standards, students in grade three will be required to type their writings for the state wide test. To guarantee my students' success in the future, I must begin teaching them typing skills now. The Office program will enhance every thing that I hope to do in regards to teaching typing to second graders. Students will also have access to Power Point. I can use this software to differentiate instruction for all levels of students. Your generosity has and will continue to have a great impact on my classroom. I am forever grateful!”

Bean Bag Buddies
Funded Oct 20, 2012What kid doesn't love a bean bag right? I must be a big kid too. They day this project funded I was ecstatic. These bean bags are such a hit in my room. They have literally transformed my reading nook! I have had to work out a daily rotation system so that all the students can have a turn each week. After sitting in them myself, I understand why they love them so! I cannot thank you all enough for coming together to support my classroom. My students are the sweetest, most giving students, and they deserve the best be given back to them. Because of your generosity, they have a safe, warm, inviting, cozy space for reading. They could read for hours and hours if I had the time to let them. Thank you so much for investing in us! Please visit us again soon!”

Snug As A Bug In A Rug
Funded Oct 5, 2012People who are not in education probably do not understand projects like this. They wonder why I can't just use any kind of rug from Wal-Mart or Target. My classroom is like a home for many of my students. In many cases, students would rather stay here than go home due to the cozy environment that I strive to create here. This new rug will add to the safe space that is our room! I cannot wait to see it in the reading center. It will be filled with students reading, learning, and loving school. I am so grateful for your generosity to my class. Stay tuned for pics!”

Books And Bean Bags
Funded Sep 25, 2012I am so ecstatic about having these high quality bean bags and the Henry and Mudge collection in my classroom. When I told the students about this project being funded, one student said..."I am gonna faint I am so happy!" He was so excited because Henry and Mudge are his favorite book characters. The bean bags promise to be a class favorite too, once they arrive. The new seating and new books will surely make a huge impact on my already existing reading area. I cannot wait to post pictures of the students using the materials you purchased. I am so grateful for your generosity towards my students. They definitely deserve the best, and thanks to you, they are getting it!”
