Funded Mar 1, 2011I am constantly amazed at the power of this site to bring generous people like you into an educational partnership with my classroom. Your selfless giving to my students is truly an inspiration to me as I strive to become a "Nation Builder." I indeed serve in the most noble of professions, but people like you who support educators from behind the scenes, make our job of impacting students all the more rewarding. My students, like every other child in the world, deserve the best materials, technology, and teaching they can get. I cannot help every classroom in the country, but I can work overtime to impact the little lives that come through the door of my class. This site has afforded me many opportunities to get hands-on learning materials for my students, but those opportunities would not EVER become possible without someone like you logging on to the site, perusing the projects, getting the credit card, and giving your hard earned money. I cannot wait to see my students using these cameras!!! They are such inquisitive learners. I am confident that your donation will spur one, if not all of them, on to become National Geographic photographers. This is just their first step. I know that may seem like a far off idea, but that is the possibility I see every time I watch my students explore and learn. Thank you so much for adding to their possibilities!”

I cannot wait to introduce my students to the microscopic world that is all around them. They are such inquisitive learners. I am confident that your donation will spur one, if not all of them, on to scientific greatness! Just think, your small donation could lead one of my students to study microbiology and find cures for diseases we do not even know about yet. Maybe that is a far out idea to some, but that is the possibility I see every time I watch my students explore and learn. Thank you so much for adding to their possibilities! ”

This classroom project was brought to life by The Horace Mann Companies and 2 other donors.Psst... Look Behind You!
Funded Nov 16, 2010One of the most difficult things to do as a teacher of young children is to teach them about the history and beginnings of our country. A good place to start is with the Native Americans and American Folklore. Your generous donation to my classroom is going to help lay a great foundation of US History for my second graders. I am so ecstatic about teaching with these books. The thought of every student having their own copy instead of 4 students sharing 1 copy is going to keep students engaged, excited, and interested in every aspect of the lesson. I am so excited to be able to integrate these American history concepts into our daily language and literature study. Because you chose to fund books for my classroom, my students will be learning these history concepts at the same time they are building their reading fluency and comprehension. Your donation is sure to be far reaching in my class this year and years to come. Please stop by projects often and spread the word to your friends. I am forever thankful!!!”

Funded Nov 3, 2010Thank you so much for opening the door and stepping into my classroom with your hard earned money. No one understands the current economic situation better than a teacher. We see it in our kids, in our school budgets, and in our own wallets. In spite of this economic climate you chose to donate to my classroom and support my students on the educational journey.
The impacts of your gift will be far reaching. The books and games that you provided will not only impact students this year, but for many years to come. I will be able to instill in my children a love for this Earth we call home and help them to grow in their respect and admiration for their surroundings. You may ask, how can a little book and a board game accomplish such a feat? It starts these amazing students out with a solid foundation and understanding of the world around them, and it will only begin to grow from here.
In addition to fostering a love for the planet and animals, they will be learning educational standards required for every 2nd grade student in our state. Regardless of their economic status, and the financial status of our state budget, my students deserve the best education possible. Through your generous giving, this education will be even better!
Thank you again for your overwhelming generosity to my class and me. Please stop by my page often as I am always creating projects to make my classroom even more fun and exciting! ”

Funded Nov 6, 2010WOW! I cannot tell you how this project is going to impact my classroom. My students are going to learn about magnets through hands-on fun as I integrate the science concepts of magnetism though literature. There is so much to teach, and so little time to teach it!!! Integrating subjects like science and literature makes the teaching and learning so much better. At the same time my students are experiencing the power of the magnetic poles, they will also be practicing their reading fluency and comprehension.Your generous donation is playing a vital role in making this happen. Thank you so much for caring enough to support my students. They are the best in the world and deserve the very best in education. Your giving spirit is passing that education on to them. Please consider sponsoring other projects in the future!”

Around the World in 180 School Days!
Funded Sep 25, 2010Every time I learn that I have a project funded here at Donors Choose, I am so humbled that anonymous people from far away would choose to spend their money on a project to help me educate the kids here in my class. People like you guys remind me what it's all about; working together to make a difference. As an individual it would would have been extremely difficult to fund this project alone, but together each of you gave a little, and collectively the money was raised.
I absolutely cannot wait to get these books into the hands of my children. The impact your dollars will have on my classroom will be amazing. Rather than using out of date maps, and atlases, my kids will have the best.
Thank you so much for sharing your hard earned dollars with my classroom. No one knows better than a teacher how tough times are right now. We not only see it in our school budgets, but in the families and children that we teach on a daily basis. Your generosity during this time is indeed far reaching. Students for years to come will know of you and your good deed to our classroom. ”

Funded Sep 22, 2010Today we were able to use our Animal Photo Library and Animal Classification books to explore the animal world a very unique and hands-on way. Throughout the lesson students were saying "This is so awesome," and "look at this cool thing." They were bombarding me with their excitement over every card they had. They were able to classify the animals into various groups as a cooperative group learning experience. Tomorrow I will assess them one on one with the Ready Made Science Animal Classifying Center that you all so generously provided. You donation to my classroom was a HUGE part of my curriculum today, and will continue to be a part throughout the year. I cannot thank you enough for your generosity to my students. I am sure that someone decided today that they want to be a zoologists when they grow up. Thank you for impacting my students in such an amazing way!!!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Duke Energy - Carolinas and 3 other donors.Weather Whiz Kids
Funded Aug 20, 2010Having the class set of What's the Weather Today?" books in my classroom has made the completion of my weather unit a complete success. Students are engaged in learning through the use of real life pictures, weather vocabulary, weather experiments, science journaling, weather observations, data collecting, and the list goes on. This book allowed me to teach the language arts skills required by my state, all the while allowing me to integrate the state science standards. Integrating subjects allows for more time in other areas such as math and writing. Your donation, whether big or small, made this happen. Thank you seems like such a small phrase for a gift that has had, and will continue to have, such a huge impact in my classroom. I will remember your generosity and thoughtfulness for years to come. It is my hope that you will continue to support public education where ever you are. It truly takes us all to impact the lives of our children!”

Funded Mar 10, 2010My dictionaries arrived this week thanks to your generous and selfless giving. I only wish you could have been in the room when I opened the boxes and begin to pass them out. The students were screaming and shouting as if it were Christmas morning. The "new" smell of the books filled the room and the kids excitement flowed out into the hall.
One student said, "I found advertise... That's one of our vocabulary words." Other students were saying, "cool" and "awesome." When I told them they were all free and I didn't have to buy them, they were even more excited. Other teachers were stopping by to see what all the fuss was. I was honored to tell them that 2 selfless donors from cyber space gave to my classroom and my awesome students.
The most humbling part of this whole experience for me, is knowing that you are not just a fictitious image from cyber space. You are a real person with real problems and financial needs of your own, but you cared enough about my current and future students to supply me with this need. As small and over used as the word "thanks" is, I offer it to you in the biggest way I know how; from the heart of a grateful teacher and the most wonderful students ever... THANK YOU!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Dearybury
