Technology is not a silver bullet for educational excellence. Nor is it a guarantee of engagement and performance. Technology does, however, open a significant and dynamic educational door. Technology offers new experiences each time it is used. Technology can bring books alive, can make a topic real to students, and can activate interest in scholars who otherwise wouldn't automatically dive in. We need a document camera and speakers. Teaching History and English with a document camera vastly enriches the value of each lesson. Students love looking more closely at relevant texts, grading rubrics, meaningful images, beautiful paintings, informative maps, and valuable examples. A document camera allows students to understand together something that might not make sense individually. I love using tech with our scholars, and this includes games, videos, and films. If students can't hear informative videos or applicable documentaries and films, then the value of this resource is significantly diminished, even wasted. We need classroom speakers to share related music as an enrichment component for cultural literature or history impacts student engagement with the content. Students have also told me that calming music played during study or testing periods has made a positive impact on their performance.
