  • I came, I SAW, I conqered

    Funded Jul 26, 2014

I hope this letter finds you well. Last night our students performed in our end of semester showcase and our time in class is rapidly coming to a close. As the students reflect on their performance today I wanted to talk about how much your gift to this simple project has meant to us in growing an elite theater program at our middle school.

This top of the line saw has made it possible for us to build really cool set pieces. I look forward to our Spring production of Little Red Robin Hood where our students will be building a small bed and several new flats with this equipment.

Your gift is super special and we could not do what we do without you. Kids get to have unique, once in a lifetime experiences because of your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Brame

  • Tale of the Theatre Tech Tape

    Funded Dec 27, 2014

Tape is the unsung hero of the theatre. I am so happy to have this precious resource in abundance because of your generosity. The spring play came together literally because of your gift. There are so many times when having a little gaffers tape can make a problem go away and allow my stage manager to get creative in the moment. The students used the black tape to secure microphones and protect the cords. The white tape was used on stage to help the crew place the movable set pieces and assist the actors as they hit their blocking marks. We could not have done it without you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Brame

As the students reflect on their performance today I wanted to talk about how much your gift to this simple project has meant to us in growing an elite theater program at our middle school.

Parents absolutely love hearing their child's voice in the very back row of our performance space. This microphone has been very helpful in making this happen.”

  • Screen for Scenes

    Funded Apr 30, 2014

This semester of theater class has gone flying by. With our final semester performance wrapping up last night we are celebrating and watching a recording of our performance on our beautiful new screen today.

I can not express how much your gift has improved the experience of reflecting on our performances in my classroom. Instead of trying to view things projected on a bare wall we can actually see the full resolution provided by the projector.

Thank you so much for making this possible. Your generosity is amazing.”

  • New Scripts For An Acting Library

    Funded Apr 15, 2014

Having access to new material is wonderful for any actor. Seeing kids work with new monologues out of these texts is rewarding and reinvigorating as an educator. There are many ways these books are helping our kids theatrical education, but the main thing I want to let you know is that there are students who are falling in love with performance because of texts like these. Seeing a student comfortable and thriving on stage is a very beautiful thing to watch. Thank you so much for helping to make that happen.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Brame

  • Light Up The Stage!

    Funded Mar 21, 2014

As the school year comes to a close I am able to reflect on the way your generosity has benefited kids and it is impressive. Our students have access to technology and professional equipment that is going to support their development as artists.

These lights have also helped out the logistics of running a performance space in our classroom along side the lights on our main stage. I no longer have to put up and take down the equipment in between each show. This saves so much time and allows me to focus on the other more important aspects of teaching.

Thank you so much for making this possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Brame

My students are from a very high needs background but they love to perform. A typical member of my theater program will be an active learner, a natural performer, or even the class clown. When given the opportunity to take the stage they shine. Our school has over 500 students and roughly half will take a theater class over the course of the year. The school has zero budget for arts programs but does support teachers who can work within those terms. We have a thriving program going on its 7th year made possible completely through donations. The students are so grateful to have access to new materials and will make great use of every possible donation.
