Funded Aug 21, 2024In my classroom, we recently implemented several innovative resources, including anger management tools, conversation dice, calm balls, and a skylight calendar, during a project called "Emotional Awareness Week." This initiative focused on helping students understand and manage their emotions through various activities. We began with workshops on identifying feelings and practiced using anger management tools, such as feeling charts and breathing exercises. Conversation dice facilitated open discussions about emotions, while calm balls provided a physical outlet for stress. Additionally, the skylight calendar helped students visualize their tasks and deadlines, reducing anxiety and promoting effective time management.
The students' reactions to these new materials were overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing excitement and curiosity. Their enthusiasm was evident as they eagerly engaged with the resources, particularly the conversation dice and calm balls. Throughout the week, I observed a significant transformation in the classroom atmosphere, with students becoming more open and willing to share their feelings. The calm balls helped manage stress effectively, leading to fewer outbursts and a more focused environment. Overall, the integration of these resources has fostered a supportive community where students feel safe to express themselves, enhancing their emotional intelligence and strengthening their relationships with one another.”
