  • Printer Needed!

    Funded Feb 12, 2025

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the printer. Its impact on my teaching and, more importantly, on my students' learning has been significant.

This printer has become an invaluable tool in my classroom. It allows me to create and print intervention lessons on the spot, addressing students' specific needs in real time. This immediate access to resources is crucial for providing effective and timely support.

Furthermore, the printer empowers my students. They are now able to easily print their work for display on our bulletin boards, fostering a sense of pride and ownership in their learning. Seeing their accomplishments celebrated in the classroom boosts their confidence and encourages further engagement.

Ultimately, this printer is contributing to closing the achievement gap. The ability to quickly print targeted worksheets and resources across all subjects – reading, math, social studies, and science – allows me to provide differentiated instruction and support, leading to improved student outcomes.

Thank you for your investment in our students' success. This printer is making a real difference in their educational journey”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Zabala

  • Mobile Interventions!

    Funded Jan 6, 2023

The students in my class are using programs like; IXL, Reflex Math, and I-ready. Many of these programs need the teacher to monitor them live. I am using the new Surface to do just that. I can monitor and give the students instant feedback live as they are working on programs like IXL ands Reflex Math.

The students cant wait for interventions in Math because they know that they are going to be met with fun meaningful technology.

The impact that the laptop has had on the students is a positive one. Once again, I am grateful for the awesome donations!”

  • The Great Drone Experience!

    Funded Oct 2, 2017

Thank you for helping my students in the use of technology in more meaningful ways. The addition of the Drone, and all the accessories have made a difference in students learning. These items have allowed for my students to access different types of technology, as well as improve engagement during many science lessons.

Prior to receiving these supplies my science lab was using computer videos only. With the addition of the drone, my students can see in real time the canopies of the trees, as well as many other views of the local sites. The students are looking forward to the lesson where we will use the drone to take the temperature of different elevations. We will be flying the drone to take shots of the clouds when learning about the water cycle. We even plan to catch some views of birds in flight as well as other animals that might be around. Students can build team work skills while also learning using the drone.

The impact of these items in our classroom has been huge. This addition has helped me to see the potential in adding a few items at a time to my classroom. Thank you again for supporting my students.”

  • Real World Science From Home To School!

    Funded Mar 23, 2017

Technology is helping our students get closer to the scientific world. Students can take photos of real world science happening in front of them, and take it back to the classroom to share with other students. Inquiry and STEM activities are made easier through the use of technology.

The products that our students received helps them take home a camera and capture scientific events. They can then print these pictures in color, and write reports on what they have captured. Sharing all the wonderful experiences from home, and abroad with their fellow students will make them feel great, and want to explore more!

Students are only in the beginning stages of the project, but are very excited to be part of the experience. When I mentioned that they will be taking home a camera, the expressions on their faces was priceless!

Thank you once again to donors choose, Overdeck Family Foundation and Simons Foundation for your generosity!”

  • Capturing the Moment!

    Funded Oct 21, 2016

Thank you for your wonderful donation that will allow our students to capture the moment in science!

The DSLR Camera that was donated will allow the students to take pictures and videos of science experiments and school wide events. Science experiments include: Life stages of different animals and plants, the before and after of different experiments. This camera will also allow the students to capture the excitement of different events in the school, like SECME, Tasteful Traditions and Science Night.

In an age of technology, this camera will definitely fit in the curriculum of science so that students can revisit projects from the past to better understand the science content captured at the time.

Once more I would like to thank you for your donation, it is organizations like yours and Donors Choose that help with the future of our country.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Zabala

My students are a really neat bunch. Their personality and charisma make coming to work easy. The students in my class love to hear stories from my life experiences and love to tell stories about theirs. I try to incorporate what they are learning in class to something of the real world. Many of our students live in a low economic area where they seldom get the chance to leave their apartment building. These stories gives them an idea of what the world is like beyond their apartment complex.
