The Lighting Upgrade
Funded Mar 26, 2014Thank you again for your generous contributions to our Photography program.
The new studio lights have arrived and our students have begun to work with them. This new technology is a welcomed addition and upgrade to our previous set up.
The kit included several accessories which really represent the type of environment professionals work in when shooting portraits or products. These accessories include colored gels, barn doors, and a snoot which allow for changes in color as well as spot lighting.
Because of this new system, students will have the opportunity to access new and old lighting systems and be better prepared for jobs as photographers.”

Funded Mar 10, 2014I can't thank you enough for your generous donations.
Kodak has been providing professional photographers with film for decades and now they are receiving an opportunity to share in that experience for free! The first few students that have used the new Kodak film have been very excited by the results. They have been remarking on the smooth quality of the images and the sturdiness of the plastic base that Kodak uses.
In addition to being able to use this high quality film, you have also contributed to our constant need for supplies. This dual purpose has given a huge boost to our students motivation. Because the film produces such clear negatives, many of them are planning on using it for their portrait projects.
This experience has been truly valuable for students to compare professional quality film with the bargain brand we usually buy.
Thank you gain for your invaluable help!”

Mr. Williams

Funded Apr 25, 2012It is with great joy that I write this note to thank you for your generous contributions to my classroom. The Art program educates approximately 260 students each year and is funded entirely through donations. Your donations allow us to continue to purchase quality materials for those students.
The Art program has produced numerous successful artists who have left SRVHS and continued their education in the Arts at such prestigious institutions as The Academy of Art, California College of the Arts, and UC Berkeley. Having access to high quality materials prepares them for the high standards they meet when the arrive in college.
Again, I thank you for your support of education and the wonderful efforts put forth by Donors Choose.”

The Archive Directive
Funded Oct 18, 2011Thank you so much for your incredibly generous donation.
This piece of technology will allow me to preserve student work in digital files so that I may use them in lectures and as examples for the rest of my career. Before I had the scanner I was forced to take digital pictures of the prints and then edit them on the computer. This process was extremely time consuming as the pictures were never of an acceptable quality and had to be heavily edited. In addition, we use glossy photo paper here at SRVHS and the paper frequently reflected the classroom lights or the camera as I was taking the picture. This scanner has eliminated all of those issues and allowed me to be far more efficient.
Another smaller impact this scanner will have on my students will be on the occasion that I instruct them on the operation of this type of technology and photo editing software.
Thank you again for your contribution and for supporting the arts.”

Mr. Williams
The Tripod Dilemma
Funded Aug 14, 2011I can't thank you enough for your generous donations. In the last several months our students have used the tripods almost everyday. They were extremely beneficial during the beginning of the school year when we were studying the effects of long shutter speeds on motion. Every student needs to complete this assignment and must use a tri pod for it. The extra tri pods you funded for us allowed more students to work on this assignment in a single period which made for greater efficiency. In a class such as Photography, efficient use of time is essential.
Again, we greatly appreciate your donations and I hope you select donorschoose.org in the future for your charitable donations.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Williams
