  • Students Starving for Social Studies Selections!

    Funded Apr 26, 2011

Thank you so much for your generosity. The students were very excited to receive all the boxes with so many books. Social studies is their favorite subject. The children are very interested in learning about new cultures and different ways of life. We already have a reserved space in our class library for our special books. As soon as they were out the students immediately immersed themselves in the books.

Budgets are being slashed daily and in the end students suffer. That is why it is great to have people such as you who care and are willing to help. Thanks to you our students will have something extra to look forward to during reading workshop. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Tumino

  • Arts & Crafts To The Rescue!

    Funded Mar 29, 2011

Thank you for your very generous donation! This wonderful gift will provide our students with opportunities to expand their thinking and grow as people through art and creativity.

This is coming at the perfect time since the Spring has been bringing varying weather, and our students have been trapped inside all day long. We will finally be able to say "YES!" to our students when they request to use art supplies! Your donation will bring much joy to my classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Tumino

  • Bringing Social Studies To Life.

    Funded Dec 13, 2009

Thank you so much for your generous donation. The kids love the video camera and are using it all the time. It has become so popular that we have a sign up schedule for it. The original idea was to create social studies videos, but it has turned into much more.

To prepare a video requires a certain amount of preparation. Students need to write scripts and gather information on their topic. This requires reading and writing and now the students are naturally doing these things in order to prepare for their project. I've noticed that they are acquiring a lot of information and not just using 1 source. Since their thoughts will be on video they do not want to be embarrassed by speaking incorrectly, so their editing skills have improved.

Our social studies videos were successful and now students want to create their own videos, ranging from social action, biographies, and my personal favorite a day in the life of...

Thanks again. It is because of people like you that such things are possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Tumino
