  • Help Us Start The Year Right!

    Funded Sep 29, 2014

I would like to thank all of you for taking the time to make our project a reality. The students are very excited and were having a great time opening the materials donated. They could not believe there eyes when they saw how much was donated.

Your support toward meeting our goal will help students actively learn, and have fun while doing it. We can now can create an environment that students will thrive in. I am confident that this will increase interest and motivation, and thus understanding. Arts and crafts, dry-erase markers, and white boards are always such a special treat for the students. It keeps them engaged during a lesson and it encourages participation.

    Thank You again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Tumino

  • Bringing Social Studies To Life!

    Funded Dec 31, 2013

Thank you for taking the time to donate to our project. Your gift is so critical to our school. I choose to work in a school where the need is great, but I can't be a successful teacher without your help. It is so important to have quality equipment to support quality education.

The children were so excited when they found out that our request had been funded. We waited patiently everyday for the materials to arrive. Students were already planning and discussing their first projects. Having the versatility of a "Surface" makes my planning and instruction so much more streamlined. Students are extremely motivated and 100% focused on completing their activities. Our transitions are smooth and waste no time!

Thanks again for being willing to donate to my students. It is always exciting to receive the latest technology. When you see this excitement through the lens of a child that rarely sees new things, you can appreciate it even more.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Tumino

  • Wow! Is This What a New Book Looks Like?

    Funded Nov 27, 2013

Thank you so much for the donations for our Barnes and Noble book excursion! It has completely transformed our students. For the first time, students were excited, engaged and buzzing about reading. Giving students the ability to choose their own books and take ownership of their own learning will hopefully continue to be exciting. We are hoping that in the future we can continue to pursue these kinds of learning opportunities.

Too often, children who come from homes with limited resources, have never had the ability to go to a store and pick a book based on their own interests. And not only were the children excited and thankful, but also, the parents expressed such great amounts of gratitude that their children had the opportunity to pick out up to three books of their choosing. Hopefully these books will remain a reminder to students (and families) the opportunities and experiences that new books can bring.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Tumino

  • Kindly Requesting Arts and Crafts!

    Funded Dec 19, 2013

We were very excited to receive the wonderful arts and crafts supplies. We now have a variety of colors and drawing materials to brighten our classroom. Our students will have multiple opportunities to express their creativity and artistic talents.

The materials you gave us are being used across the subject areas to bring learning to life. In social studies especially these arts and crafts have allowed us to create exciting and colorful projects that showcase important parts of US history, including the American Revolution. The students have also enjoyed using the art supplies to write colorful poetry that expresses their individuality. All in all, each part of our day has been bettered with the arts and crafts materials.

Student learning has been deeply invigorated and expanded due to your generous donation of arts and crafts! Throughout the academic day and during special recesses, students are learning to express themselves artistically and are deepening their engagement in school.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Tumino

  • Budding Artists Need Your Support!!!

    Funded Nov 12, 2013

On behalf of my class, I would like to thank you for your generous donation. We were very excited to open the package and find all sorts of art supplies.

Your contribution makes it possible for us to put our creativity into action. Most students will want to stay in the classroom for recess to draw, color, and create. Some students are planning to make a comic book of their favorite literary characters.

Art is a way for every child to express their inner emotions and to bring the curriculum to life. Thank you for allowing this to happen.”

  • Help Me Bring Social Studies To Life

    Funded Mar 23, 2013

I can't fully express my joy, excitement, and thanks for your donation to my project. It is great to see that you share my vision for helping children. It is important for children to have the opportunity to be creative.

The technology available on the Surface will give children the opportunity to study the environment around them. My students have already been out in the community and have captured "snapshots" of their lives. Through multimedia projects they will explore their individual identities.

Thank you so much. I can't wait to see their finished products.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Tumino

  • Arts and Crafts to Save the Day!

    Funded Mar 15, 2013

We appreciate so much what you have done for our students by taking the time to help us realize our goal. The art supplies have been used each day to enrich the curriculum for our students. Children are creating colorful and creative models of our social studies and science curriculum.

Unfortunately, budget cuts can put a strain on creativity and students are the ones that suffer. Having the ability to use arts and crafts in academics and is something that should be available to every student.

Thank you again for your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Tumino

  • Eyes Wide Open: Who Am I, Really?

    Funded Dec 7, 2012

We greatly appreciate each and every donation towards this project. There has been a complete transformation. Students are more engaged in the past few weeks then they have all year. This would not be possible without the iPads.

In addition, the students ability to use sophisticated technology to tell their own personal stories has been moving. For students who are so often marginalized, watching their stories come to life is moving.

I am humbled by everyone's donation and can not put into words the transformation that has taken place with our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Tumino

  • Extra, Extra Arts And Crafts Needed!

    Funded Oct 29, 2012

We would like to thank you again for your generous donation to our classrooms. The students were waiting anxiously for the arts and crafts to arrive, and their faces lit up the day the saw the new materials. These supplies have given many of our students an artistic outlet during their recess period. Students have enjoyed making drawings, building sculptures, and making bracelets and key chains with the beads and string.

This new way to spend recess has given our students opportunities to use their time in a positive way developing interpersonal skills, as well as, learning to socialize and share materials. Watching peers interact in this positive way encourages other students to do the same.

Our students and teachers cannot thank you enough!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Tumino

  • Arts and Crafts Will Save the Day!

    Funded Dec 12, 2011

I want to personally thank you all again for your kind donations to our classroom community. In an inner-city school, supplies are often scarce, and giving our students the opportunity to bring their reading to life using these materials has been transformative. They have used the supplies to create informational projects, models, and sculptures to teach other students in the class about a non-fiction topic. The motivation to read and present information to the larger class has suddenly sky-rocketed.

Now, though we still face budget shortcomings, these students have the supplies necessary to bring their reading to life. For students living in these communities this donation, to allow multiple modes of representation in our classroom, might prevent them from becoming another "statistic."

Without donors like you our classroom, like many others, would go without. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Tumino
