Euclid Elementary is located in the heart of City Heights, one of the most diverse neighborhoods in San Diego, California. Many immigrants from all over the world relocate to City Heights and call it home because of the rich culture and perfect year-round weather. Euclid Elementary is in a low-income area and qualifies for Title 1 funding (i.e. financial assistance to schools with a high percentage of students from low-income families). The students in my class are from low-income families and have a moderate/severe disability (e.g. autism, cerebral palsy, down syndrome). The challenging circumstances that these students face inspire me to be a better teacher because they come to school everyday ready to learn. It brings me joy to see the spark in their eyes in the classroom and my goal is to create a warm, inviting, effective student-centered learning environment.
