  • Do You Hear What I Hear?

    Funded May 9, 2023

Thank you so much! You have helped me once again to enhance my lessons for my students. I will use these headsets frequently throughout the course of a unit. I now have the ability to assign listening activities and assignments to individual students, while still being accessible for assistance. You made that possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Surmacz

  • Free Me from My Desk!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you so much for helping me obtain this iPad for my classroom. We live in an age when there are so many new tools available to help actively engage students, but we need the technology to access them. This iPad allows me to do just that.

By using the iPad, I am able to move more freely around the room when running presentations through a program called Nearpod. Gone are the days when I had to stay anchored to my desk to advance a slide after it asks my students to write a response. This has kept my curriculum concise, and will allow me to get through the entire curriculum before the end of the year.

The iPad has also allowed me to more easily communicate with my ELL students through Google Translate. It's not perfect, but it does the job to keep all of my students on track.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Surmacz

  • How Did We Get Here (Without Chromebooks)?

    Funded Oct 4, 2019

I just wanted to tell you all how thankful I am that you have helped my students have easier access to a much broader education than I could offer without these computers. The laptops have been used to help my students independently research topics that are changing daily. The laptops have enabled me to structure my curriculum to allow for the use of more technology, which is making the content come alive for my students. When I use the computers for my lessons, it has become a race to see who gets to use these computers first, and you helped to make that happen.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Surmacz

  • Computers for History

    Funded Aug 13, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity that has allowed me to enhance my students' educational experience! The Chromebooks that you helped purchase are being used almost daily. They allow me to bring in vast amounts of resources and help me teach my students about being a more responsible, independent, and effective digital citizen.

You have helped create an environment where my students are engaged in thoughtful digital exercises that extend beyond the confines of our classroom walls. None of this would have been possible without you, and for that I am truly grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Surmacz

  • Learning History In the Present

    Funded Mar 1, 2019

This computer has helped me reach more students through thoughtful, engaging projects about our nation's history. The major hurdle facing our classrooms today is the challenge of teaching in the technological age without enough computers to allow our students to harness the awesome power available to them. This computer is one more open window into the world of possibility for my students, thanks to you!

My students do not know a world without the internet. Easy access to the internet has been a way of life for all students across the country. I am striving to be a teacher that will use the skills that my students already possess to bring our past to life in the present. Technology allows me to bring rich resources into my classrooms, and you have helped make that possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Surmacz
