Hands-on Coding with Micro:Bits!
Funded Aug 5, 2019I am continually humbled by the generosity and love you have shown my students. Your kindness is recognized in the lives of our students as a sustainable and purposeful investment in our community.
Our students love the micro:bits! There's nothing quite like seeing students interact with them for the first time. Coding can be a difficult concept to grasp, but the physical interaction with the micro:bit helps make real world connections to some of the more abstract concepts.
The first activity we did was the classic "Rock, Paper, Scissors" game, but instead of using our hands we used the, "shake" feature on the micro:bits. They loved it!
We have started with block coding to learn coding concepts, but have the ability to learn coding techniques such as JavaScript, Python, and more in the future.
I can't wait to see what else my students are capable of!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Benson

Funded Jan 21, 2019The headphones you invested in for my classroom is already paying dividends! I only occasionally have to tell them to turn the volume down now -- It was a nightmare before!
They were so excited when I announced that every computer would have headphones. Specifically some students said, "Did you buy these for us!?" "Are these for us to use!?" "Wait -- so we can listen to music too? The best part was telling them that it wasn't me, but someone who cared about them and was willing to invest in them. They can concentrate without interrupting or distracting their neighbors.
We are truly thankful for your generosity, and helping my students focus, improve, and get better everyday!”

Entrepreneurship Through Authentic Real World Projects
Funded Sep 18, 2018Thank you so much for investing in the lives of my students. One of my goals as an educator is to create as many learning opportunities for my students as possible. You made it possible for my students to have one more authentic experience.
We have brainstormed quite a few ideas and the first thing we decided would be worth our time would be creating EAST conference shirts! We want to be able to represent our program with our own unique flair, and we're designing and creating the clothing on our own! (With blank shirts of course!) We've also talked about different fundraising ideas about selling shirts to our school!
We're always coming up with new ideas and ways to improve our school solving real world problems! This is how we hope to use our press in the future! Our kids are always excited about opportunities to create and make something with a real impact.
Thanks again!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Benson
