  • Prepping to Prep!

    Funded Apr 30, 2025

Thank you for the amazing donations for this project. Again - these supplies may seem simple, but the organizational support they provide makes the class function. Time will be saved, students will be supported, and learning will happen. I cannot thank you enough for the support - and I know my future learners will thank you too.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Oeckel

  • More Than Just Paper

    Funded Nov 13, 2024

Thank you for the donations and support to our classroom. These supplies have gone a long way in enhancing our classroom experience and supercharging students' desires to engage with mathematics.

The flexibility enabled by new supplies cannot be easily described. The simple ability to pivot to a new way to help a student struggling with material because the supplies are present and available is such a game changer in the classroom. I cannot once again express my gratitude enough for these supports.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Oeckel

  • Working Towards Mental Wellness

    Funded Aug 12, 2024

Thank you greatly for these donations and your support. The materials have gone over quite well in my classroom. Students are often using the cushions to sit in comfortable spots and work together. I have noticed an increase on bonding and conversations as a direct result.

Another great note - I have noticed several shyer students using the standing table in the back to work together. It really is wonderful to be able to provide students different types of seating and working placements for students. Every barrier we can remove for students is a step towards total engagement.

Truly - thank you for all of your support. Your impact was and is felt.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Oeckel

  • Prepping for Inquiry

    Funded May 21, 2024

Thank you for your support inside my classroom. The supplies provided in "Prepping for Inquiry" have already been put into daily use despite just being the first month of school!

Supplies like colored paper have made scaffolds easier than ever - students are able to reference sheets when support themselves or others. The ample supplies - like pencils, markers, and white board markers - have made the classroom a flexible space for students. We've eliminated the excuse of not having the right supplies and students can dive right in!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Oeckel

  • Rockets and Real World Mathematics

    Funded Nov 8, 2023

I want to thank you for all your help in getting these resources for students! I am disappointed to say we were not able to complete the project as intended. Although students were able to design and build rockets, and we were able to perform mathematical calculations about their trajectories - launch day never happened!

Through a combination of scheduling conflicts and medical emergencies, we were never able to get everyone together to launch the rockets in a suitable location (our school doesn't have access to a field). However, we were able to draw connections between engineering and mathematics, and students had a lot of fun building the rockets or describing their designs.

We did get to use the air-launch rockets in classrooms to show how they model parabolas - and more than one student left imagining a career in space! I cannot say thank you enough for all of these opportunities.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Oeckel

  • Never Giving Up

    Funded Dec 28, 2023

Thank you for your support and these supplies. They have gone a long way in making the classroom run smoothly and safely. For example, the vacuum has come in clutch more times than I can count! Students are exploring various ways to study - which includes index cards that are hole-punched onto a ring. The amount of accidents that have left the room covered in punched out dots is uncountable!

Likewise, the magnetic whiteboard accessories have finally allowed my classroom to use them with fidelity. It is wonderful to watch students get up and work on whiteboards in teams to solve complex problems. Students are much more comfortable exploring because of these supplies that I otherwise would not have been able to afford.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Oeckel

  • Advisory Readiness

    Funded Sep 19, 2023

This project really has helped! The snacks and supplies have helped empower my students to build community and create a space to exist in our school.

One of the best things about this project has been watching my freshman bond and make friends! The furniture and food has helped students that were otherwise shy to meet new students and introduce themselves. We have created an environment of friendliness that lets all students bond and do well.

The snacks help students - especially students with dietary issues - make it through the day when school lunch doesn't quite do the mark.

Thank you for supporting my students and helping them get the most out of their education!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Oeckel

  • Gearing Up for Next Year

    Funded May 9, 2023

Thank you for your support in this arena. The supplies have gone a tremendously long way in impacting my students and ensuring they started the year off strong.

The notebooks have greatly empowered students this year. They've already improved in speed and detail with taking notes, and have learned to better check them regularly as they make it through class time. It is always a delight to hear students are using them to study.

Additionally, the other supplies have given me flexibility in teaching. I am able to adjust lessons on the fly because I know I have the resources to do so.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Oeckel

  • Probability Preparation!

    Funded Nov 28, 2022

Thank you for the supplies and support in the education of these awesome students. These supplies have been incredibly useful in making the math come alive.

Students have been using the dice and spinners daily to explore probabilities, write equations, and understand the math happening around them.

The materials may seem small or even insignificant, but they go a long way in empowering students who struggle to engage with and understand complex mathematical ideas. The various supplies, from cleaning stuff to wipes, have also helped make the classroom a place where we can focus on learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Oeckel

This classroom project was brought to life by The Walt Disney Company and one other donor.
  • Essential Tools for Success

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

This resupply of our classroom was extremely impactful! In the hands of my students, the supplies like simple construction paper were turned into powerful tools for learning. Students are able to tackle problem solving in a variety of ways.

These resources give me the ability to adapt my lessons as needed. I do not fear a lack of supplies when trying to differentiate for my learners. I can do any lesson!

My students are now preparing to work on long-term projects where they need to learn to manage their own time to conduct their own mathematical research. I plan on using many of these resources to help them!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Oeckel

I teach math to students who struggle - but still succeed! The classroom I will be moving to does not currently have a projector that is student-friendly! Meaning, the one we have projects over the white board so students (and myself) cannot manipulate graphs or data to better learn about math. This projector will allow me to allow students to graph or solve problems in front of the class in an efficient and modern way. This will better help students reach mastery! This projector is mobile, so I can have students working in small groups in one area of the classroom while others practice on the board or at stations. It also has the flexibility of enabling students to work on presentations for the class and to get ready for college level success!
