  • Help Mr. McCarthy Calculate More Learning

    Funded Nov 13, 2024

Thank you for all of your support, because of you we have funded this project! I cannot wait to open up these calculators and start using them in class. My students will greatly enjoy them, our math classes are about to get a lot more mathematical. Thanks again for your kindness and generosity.”

  • Help Mr. McCarthy's Class iNteract!!

    Funded Jan 19, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous support in bringing a Mac Mini to our classroom! This new addition has already created an incredible transformation in how my students engage with each lesson. By pairing the Mac Mini with our smart projector, we've essentially turned the classroom wall into a large, interactive touchscreen that draws students in, whether they're working up front or participating from their seats. For some students, the ability to come to the front and interact directly with the lesson has become a highlight of their day, while others enjoy using the wireless keyboard and trackpad from their desks, accessing lessons in a way that feels comfortable and engaging to them.

This setup has also allowed us to be flexible for students who are learning remotely or are at home due to health concerns. I can now project student work onto the screen easily, making it possible for every student, in class or at home, to share and contribute. With the Mac Mini, I can reach each of my students, including those with learning or social-emotional disabilities, more effectively, allowing them to feel included and connected to our daily activities. Your support has truly created a more inclusive, engaging, and adaptive learning environment, and we are all so grateful for the positive impact it has had on our classroom.”

  • Help Mr. McCarthy Project an Interactive Learning Experience

    Funded Nov 7, 2024

Thank you so much for your support! The addition of the SMART Interactive Whiteboard has already transformed my students' experience in our math classroom. With this technology, students are more engaged and actively involved in lessons, which has boosted both their confidence and enthusiasm for learning. They now have the freedom to focus fully on understanding and discussing concepts rather than just taking notes, which has deepened their comprehension and made learning feel more collaborative.

Whether my students are in class or learning from home, the whiteboard has become an essential part of our day-to-day activities. It's allowed me to present material in dynamic, interactive ways that keep students connected and excited to participate. Your generosity has truly enriched their educational journey, making learning more accessible and impactful. We are incredibly grateful for the positive difference you have made in our classroom!”

  • Classroom Magic!

    Funded Jan 25, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous support for our project! With your help, our classroom has become an even more engaging and interactive space for my students, who face many challenges both in and outside of school. The addition of the Magic Keyboard to our recently donated iPad Pro has been a game-changer, allowing my students to seamlessly type and interact with lessons from their seats. This new setup makes learning more accessible and enjoyable, especially in my Financial Literacy class, where students now engage with complex concepts in a way that feels more hands-on and supportive.

Your donation has truly made a difference in our classroom, empowering my students to embrace challenges with confidence. It's inspiring to see them light up as they take on new math concepts, navigate interactive lessons, and feel proud of their progress. Thank you for believing in my students and for helping provide the tools that make learning an exciting and rewarding experience. We are so grateful for your support!”

  • Help Mr. M.'s Class Become iPad Pros!

    Funded Jan 18, 2022

Your donation has ensured our classroom will continue to maintain the hi-tech status quo that has been established as a result of donors like you over the last 10 years. I have been using the ipad every day in class to present lessons wirelessly "floating" around the room. This ensures I am able to connect with each of my students throughout the learning process. My students have enjoyed when I place the ipad in front of them, allowing them to try a problem on the "board" right from their seat.

This tool ensures both a high level of student engagement and hygiene safety (allowing students to maintain proper social distance when needed).

Thank you for your donation, your continued generosity ensures our classroom stays "state-of-the-art."”

  • Help Mr. McCarthy Project New Technology

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

I want to thank you for your continued and generous gifts to our classroom. Teaching during a pandemic has been the most challenging experience of my professional life. It would be a whole lot harder without your generosity.

The technology you have provided this classroom has truly enabled me to more effectively and efficiently deliver valuable content to my students. The Epson Smart Projector has been an invaluable tool providing me the much needed upgrade to my projecting ability during hybrid lessons last school year, and continues to be my daily workhorse project in class this year. This projector is great, I can write on the board just like it was a chalkboard and whatever I write interacts with my preloaded slides.

I cannot begin to quantify how your gift has enhanced my classroom. These past two years have been immensely stressful for students & teachers alike. Having first class technology that I can rely upon has gone a long way to eliminate unneeded stress and anxiety while also enabling me to provide a the best possible learning environment for our students.

Thank you agin for your donation.”

The technology you have provided this classroom has truly enabled me to more effectively and efficiently deliver valuable content to my students. • Help Mr. McCarthy's Students Focus

    Funded Dec 22, 2019

Thank you so much for the headphones. I apologize for the late response, the pandemic has really thrown me off. These headphones ended up being distributed to students while they learned from home. Most of our students live in busy homes with lots of background noise, so these headphones served to ensure they are able to focus on their online learning. Your donation helped our students focus on class throughout the pandemic. I am truly grateful for your generosity, without it my students would have had a much harder time managing during this pandemic.”

  • Mr. McCarthy's Class Financial Podcasts

    Funded Mar 14, 2018

I want to thank you again for your donation of the microphones & headphones. Our seniors used them to create podcasts as their final project in my financial literacy class. Students got together in groups to discuss what they've learned about saving, budgeting, debt, investing & retirement, paying for college and how they will continue to use this knowledge after graduation. I wish I could share the actual podcasts with you (for privacy reasons I am not allowed). They came out great, we continue to appreciate your generosity in supporting our classroom.”

  • Help Mr. M's Class iNteract!

    Funded Jan 9, 2018

Thank you so much for this generous donation. I am continuously humbled by your generosity. What you have provided our classroom, with this project, has already transformed it. The Mac Mini has been installed onto the wall next to my interactive projector, which has created a wireless 100 inch interactive computer for all students to use. The wireless keyboard, mouse & touchpad allow me to present either from a seated position sitting with the students, or in front of the classroom in a more traditional lecturing model. My students really seem to enjoy this flexibility. Thanks again for your support.”

Welcome to Mr. McCarthy's classroom page. I am grateful that you have taken an interest in supporting my classroom. TechBoston Academy serves the Dorchester neighborhood students in the Boston Public School system. Our community consists of a mostly minority population living well under the poverty line. Our students overcome many obstacles just to make it to school every day. My classroom currently serves these students in their Senior year as they learn Financial Literacy, Pre-Calculus & even some Calculus. These classes are mostly inclusion classrooms consisting of students with a myriad of learning &/or emotional disabilities. I encounter many challenges every day & love every minute of it. My motto is to "embrace the struggle" of learning. This growth mindset enables students to not be afraid to make a mistake as learning from these mistakes is a pinnacle part of the learning process.
