Funded Nov 27, 2023Thank you so much for enabling my student athletes to have some of the basic equipment needed to participate in our school baseball team. Our baseball team is in its third year now and continues to grow each year. Our eight graders as so grateful for the past three years and have forged bonds with teammates that I hope last forever.
Our student athletes are able to use the cleats to hold practices at our local park which enable them better footing on the dirt infield and grass outfield. They are excited that the batting gloves match the team uniforms.

Funded Dec 31, 2022I cannot thank you enough for your generosity to help my student-athletes. We are in our second year of the baseball league and are learning at a rapid pace. Each morning we have practice before school to hone our skills in fielding and batting. We also have practices after school at a local park to simulate game play and reinforce the skills learned from morning practice.
Our student-athletes were elated to see all the gear at their disposal. They all just wanted to see and touch everything including the new bats, hoping that the one they picked up would be the "home run" bat.
We just had our first game last week and won 13-5. Though we are miles away from MLB, I am so proud of them for showing up day in and day out. I hope that they learn to love this game as much as I do and get them ready for the next level.

Funded Aug 2, 2019This project has impacted my classroom in dramatic fashion. As soon as the equipment starting to arrive, there was a BUZZ around the school. My students know how much I enjoy baseball and they too quickly started to feel the energy.
Most of my students have never played organized baseball or any baseball for that matter. They were eager to learn and play the game. It took some time to get use to a new sport since there are so many rules of the game. Surprisingly, most of my student-athletes only wanted to hit and not play the field. I told them I cannot have a team of DH's.
We were able to practice for a while but then the schools were closed due to COVID-19. I know my students were eager to start their first season right away but the safety of everyone outweighs it all.
The Dick's Sporting Goods Foundation has been a tremendous supporter of sports and athletics and we cannot thank them enough for doing all that they do in school of need. We also want to thank everyone who has helped us along the way. Without your kindness and generosity, we would not be able to create the Brooklyn BEES Baseball Team.
We cannot wait for our school to re-open in person and get back onto the field. We thank you and appreciate your support.”

Funded Mar 29, 2017Since receiving the Rugby Balls, we practiced every day. My students showed such an interest that we began practicing before school started. Practices were usually held in the gym and for about an hour a day. It was so nice to see so many boys and girls show up every day to practice, wanting to get better.
As soon as the box arrived, I knew what was inside. Some of my students thought they were funny looking footballs with no laces. I was able to pull up a video online and show them exactly what they would be doing. They were thrilled since they had never done that before. It was exciting for me as well to be able to teach them something they know nothing about. Soon they were teaching each other.
We were able to play in a few games and an invitational as well. To our surprise we had an amazing first season. My students will always remember their first year as a rugby team and to go undefeated as well.
We could not have done any of this if it were not for donors like yourself. We truly appreciate your support for our school. Our hope is to grow our school and also our sports programs with the continued support of everyone around us.”

Funded Dec 30, 2016I am so grateful to have amazing donors like you to help me, help my student athletes. This is the first year for our girls' volleyball team. We would get to school at 7:00am and practice until 8:15am every day, Monday through Friday.
I wanted to make sure my student athletes were prepared for all obstacles in their way that might impact their playing. My first thought was the floor. If my athletes dove for the ball, they would bang up their knees. I did not want them to get hurt and not want to come back. These Nike knee pads were a lifesaver.
From the minute they put the knee pads on, they really never came off. My athletes would show up to practice sporting their knee pads waiting for any opportunity to put them to good use. I have never seen so many dives for the ball that really did not need one.
I feel that these Nike knee pads have improved my athletes' confidence levels and increased their self-esteem. They wanted to practice more and for longer periods of time.
I would say that their determination definitely paid off this past weekend during our first and second game. These amazing middle schoolers won their first two games and are looking to finish their season undefeated. For my eight graders, this was an opportunity to be part of something great and carry over to high school. For my sixth and seventh graders, I look forward to their winning spirit next year and their grit in the following season. We cannot thank you all enough.”

Funded Mar 24, 2016Thank you all for helping enrich the lives of my students. As a physical education teacher, I try to broaden the lives of all my students and teach them new and exciting games. Your donations have helped me tremendously.
The outdoor equipment is amazing. My students have never seen or heard of these games before. This was a perfect way for me to level the playing field for my highly skilled to those that need the most help. These games also allowed for greater communication within teams while working cooperatively.
These games will allow me to modify my curriculum to bring in more activities that will enrich the entire student. I thank you again for all your continued support.”

Basketball Equipment For Our School Team
Funded Feb 27, 2016Thanks to this wonderful addition of equipment my students are more and more enthusiastic about their practices and games. My amazing students are practicing twice a day now thanks to everyone.
I'm happy to report that practices are going very well and we are getting about 20+ students for 7am practice daily. This purpose has served two fold. I am able to get them to school early and we are building a school team. Most of the team members are in 6th and 7th grade. This will allow them more playing time over the next few years.
Now that the warm weather is upon us, students are given more recess time outside to hone their skills. Although we only have two baskets outside, it still allows them ample time to work on drills or a quick pick up game to ready themselves for a game.
I am so thankful for all your donations to help my students. I hope your generosity yields a winning season.”

Funded Dec 15, 2015Thank you all so much for helping out my students. You donations have helped me immensely. In the gymnasium students occasionally gets bumps and scrapes. I have been able to teach my students of hand hygiene and proper use of band aids. I have also been able to reinforce hand hygiene after a sneeze or cough.
The deodorant has been especially helpful after a high impact lesson. Middle school students are really starting to be aware of their appearance and how they smell. The spray deodorant has a really nice scent and they boys do use it.

Funded Dec 3, 2015I cannot describe the positive impact amazing donors like yourself have made to my students. We are actually able to play a game after all the skills lessons are completed. The ability to have a culminating event after all their hard work is priceless. This experience has made my job so much easier as it allows my students to experience even more games and activities to participate in.
When the box of goals came, my kids couldn't believe the big goals fit in a small box. Once I explained to them that they were pop up goals and were light and transportable, they were amazed. I don't believe they have ever seen anything like it. We had so much fun playing Team Handball the day the goals arrived. Some of my students thought the goals might have been too big.
We have kept busy by playing Team Handball, Soccer and Hockey. I plan to continue using these awesome goals with other lessons such as Ultimate Frisbee. These goals are universal amongst Unit of Study and have an amazing durability factor. I am truly blessed to have friends and donors like you to share some amazing times with. I cannot thank you enough for this experience.”
