I work at a school where the majority of my students do not have a computer for their personal use. Without access to educational and business software, many will never succeed in the workforce. My students attend a publicly funded charter school. Many arrive to school from buses coming from poverty-stricken neighborhoods. They lack access to computers and do not know how to use simple office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Asides from providing manual labor, they do not comprehend how the use of technology can help them succeed in the workforce.
