ELLs Read Up With Guided Books
Funded May 11, 2018Your generous support for our reading program for ELLs provides much needed reading materials for their growing needs. I'm excited to unpack the books with them. I hope to share their creative insights and progress based on your gift in a few weeks, after the start of the next academic year 2018-19!”

This classroom project was brought to life by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and one other donor.Seeing is Believing...You Can Read!
Funded Apr 25, 2017The letters from my students who received glasses from your generous donation say it all. We are so grateful for your gift of sight. Your donation came at the last days of school 2017 and we had logistical issues since the day we returned after summer recess.
I have noticed over the months that my students have more confidence socially as well as success academically because they have adequate vision. They came to realize that their ability to see is precious and fundamental to their success in school and their lives.
Heart-felt thanks to you again.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Warby Parker and 10 other donors.Fish Club Rebuilds Fishy Community
Funded Apr 9, 2017The donations of the fish club's tank, plants, fish, and plants were very generous and gracious of you. We appreciate your help for allowing us to learn about the different species of fish. We loved the donations of the guppies, danios, supplies and plants. We even got some snails!
We learned that male Guppies are colorful, and females are a silver bland color. We also learned that when a female guppy has an egg sack that turn into a black gray color when they are pregnant. When they are born, the babies grow slowly and they are very small. In the past few weeks we had 2 new babies but, they were.... gone when we checked for them. Then the guppies had 2 more babies and we put them in a different tank so they wouldn't disappear again. We feed them zucchini and they eat them. We were surprised that they eat zucchini. Mainly the guppies stay at the top of the tank but, the babies are seen more at the bottom of the tank. We believe that they stay down there so they could be protected by the plants and camouflage. The donated plants have all been eaten.
We also learned that zebra danios don't look like zebras. We feed the fish everyday and watch them grow. Right now we are beginning to make a diorama of the Hudson River estuary. An estuary is where the mouth of a stream meets the mouth a river. We haven't completed the estuary project yet, but we are working at a fast pace. Hopefully we can send pictures of our finished project soon.
Love the Fish Club residents,
Shea, Hoshmand, Jasmine, And Mr. Lim.”
