It's a Slam Dunk With New Basketballs!
Funded Jan 1, 2018Thanks to the brand new basketballs, we were able to start up our boys basketball club for fourth and fifth grade. We are able to have it Friday mornings during zero period to improve our attendance outreach as a positive reinforcement. Then they come seventh period to learn basic fundamental skills and be part of different planned tournaments titled "Fall Ball", "March Madness" and "May Mania" where the winners receive awards. This opportunity brings cooperation over competition. It promotes team-building, teamwork and sportsmanship.
When our students saw the new basketballs, they were excited to dribble, pass to one another, layup and shoot. They were eager to practice their mechanics so they can fulfill their dream of one day making the NBA.
Our next steps for our students is to form a basketball team and hold tryouts based on skill level, attendance and good behavior. We will take field trips and visit other schools and play their team. We will record the games, so we can go into a classroom and watch game film as a form of learning style.”

Funded Jul 13, 2017This is an exciting new beginning at our elementary school. Chess Club is the first of our character/strategy focus as we build a student-choice variety of activities that can foster a love of learning and team spirit. I know that chess is a game of winning and defeat, but my goal is to teach students a love of strategy and focused thought. The Chess Club will be a haven for those students who want an alternative to team sports. In Chess Club, we celebrate the sport of mental combat - for both girls and boys!
Thank you, Dr. Kodroff for your shared vision. Your support means so much to me and all our future chess champions!”

Basketball Shorts for Basketball Shots!
Funded Mar 19, 2017Basketball has become a powerful tool for my new sports initiatives. They say that you have to find what the kids like to reach them, and our Men's Basketball League is a magnet that has pulled all our 4th and 5th grade young men together as one. Now that we're playing and winning, having these basketball shorts has made us feel more professional and important. Many of my students cannot afford to buy extra sports equipment or clothes. Having these shorts has erased inequality and leveled our playing field.
Thank you for caring, thank you for supporting, and thank you for making such a difference to so many wonderful young men.”

Funded Nov 15, 2016I'm thanking you for funding my Hoops for Success! project that gave my school basketballs for our new basketball team. These basketballs are being used EVERY day and the change in my boys is remarkable. The basketball court is the one place where many of my struggling young men can shine. With each basket their confidence and pride grows. Our March Madness tournament was wonderful! We're so excited to be ready for our first competition and can travel with pride with our new basketballs.
Thank you for your support of my young men and our school.”

iPad for iSocial Learning
Funded Dec 24, 2016Thank you for funding my project iPad for iSocial Learning. I'm heading up our new character education program and using technology to access it's on-line resources is such a help. The iPad is being used in my small groups and also for individual students who need more one-on-one time with me. As I visit classrooms I'll use the iPad to project for whole class instruction. Technology is a very powerful hook and having this iPad will make a big difference as we make stronger, kinder students.
I really appreciate your support and am very grateful.”
