My students come from a lot of different backgrounds. They come from other cities, states, and countries. Our school is very much an "Inner City" school. Over 90% of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch, meaning they come from families of low income. I have students who have strong supportive families, students who are homeless, students who don't speak English, parents that don't speak English, and students that belong to gangs. But more importantly I have students who are hardworking, motivated, passionate, and eager to learn. This diverse group of kids comes together under a common goal to play guitar. Everyday students tell me about how guitar is their favorite class or how rewarding and challenging guitar is. These young adults are hardworking and dedicated and I am proud to help them develop the skills they need to excel in all areas of life.
