  • Back To In Person Learning

    Funded Apr 28, 2021

We're starting week four of our school year and things are really smoothing out. Because of the realities of covid, plenty of precautions are in place to keep all of us safe and prepared to learn. One of the things that have become an ongoing practice is to wipe surfaces and materials after each and every use. Thanks to your generosity, we have lots of Clorox wipes! Those pull-out-of-the-container wipes are so useful in the classroom. Being able to just reach over, grab a wipe, and get to work makes quick work of a very important process.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Kargol

  • Montessori Math

    Funded Apr 28, 2021

Can you imagine how big a number one-hundred is when you're five years old? Let me tell you, one-hundred is unimaginably big. Enter, the one-hundred board. Row by row kids physically lay out the numbers in rows of ten. In this way, students are able to see the patterns created, odd and even, and so much more. In the end, they get to put down the number 100 and celebrate the achievement.

Your gift not only gives students the opportunity to practice numbers, but it also gives them the confidence that comes from such a notable achievement. Thank you!”

    Mr. Kargol

  • School Supplies

    Funded Apr 28, 2021

A big part of being a Montessorian and Special Education Teacher is observation and documentation. By carefully observing my students I can tailor their education to their unique and specific needs. Regularly monitoring progress and data makes me a more effective educator and allows me to create and refine my goals at regular intervals. Your gift of pens and notebooks helps me organize, document, and educate more effectively.

It is a welcome bonus to have special notebooks for each student. In this way, I can grab their book and journal. Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness. It means so very much.”

  • Basic School Supplies

    Funded Apr 28, 2021

The materials have arrived! A big part of being a special education teacher is knowing and documenting unique needs of each child in your care. Writing, journaling and charting data allows me to personalize their education and best meet their needs. Having a notebook dedicated to each child allows me to organize my thoughts and dive deeper into their personal learning styles and to research best practices. It is hard to express how grateful I am for your generosity and support. These tools make a real difference in the lives of my students and this very fortunate teacher. Thank you for believing in public school teachers and the work we do.”

  • Math the Montessori Way

    Funded Dec 31, 2020

Aaron and Jennifer, If I had to pick one thing to be my favorite component of the Montessori curriculum it would be mathematics. The Montessori tools for teaching mathematics are colorful, hands-on, and fun. It makes, what is often, a difficult subject interesting and compelling. The stamp game allows young children to add numbers to the thousands place! You would think this would be challenging, even daunting. The addition strip board puts a new spin on adding numbers. It's visual and interesting. The numbers 1-1000 use a consistent color scheme that makes multi digit formulas easy to comprehend. These tools make learning exciting and your generosity makes it possible. Thanks again.”

  • Montessori Dressing Frames

    Funded Feb 11, 2021

Learning to use snaps, buttons, zippers and other fasteners is no easy undertaking ... especially for little hands and fingers! These dressing frames give kids a chance to practice those skills over and over without pressure or judgement. They make learning to use fasteners fun. What's more is once they've mastered those skills their confidence is bolstered. Kids want to " do it themselves!" With a little help and practice with the dressing frames they can! Thank you for believing in public school teacher and the work we do.”

  • Learning Linear and Skip-Counting the Montessori Way

    Funded Feb 11, 2021

The golden beads is the crowning jewel of the Montessori classroom. The students cannot wait to work with those beautiful learning manipulative that helps students learn how to count. The golden beads have helped my students to gain a sense of quantities. With the golden beads, other students have already learned how to skip count. How exciting! The golden beads help teach the decimal system. Once mastered, the beads lay the groundwork for multiplication and beyond! Thank you very much for believing in the work we do and helping us reach our goal.”

  • Phonetics the Montessori Way

    Funded Feb 11, 2021

Wow! This was a dream project and I am still in shock that it funded. The language package is amazing! The materials are attractive and made very well. Students have already started to use the pink, blue and green series. The colorful cabinets draw my students in so they often choose this item to work with in the classroom. Students are able to use it independently and they are self-motivated to work. The color coding system is easy to understand and follow. Students also enjoy the self-checking system. Thank you for making our dreams come true.”

  • Math the Montessori Way #2

    Funded Feb 11, 2021

My students are learning how to skip count and are having a blast! The wooden flags have really helped my students as they practice skip counting. The addition equations and sum set is very popular in the classroom. I have one student who chooses to work with it every day. Thanks to your help in funding this project this student is now able to do simple addition problems. The equations and sum set is not only fun to work with but it is made very well and will last a long time. Thank you for helping my students learn new math skills.”

Thank you to all my wonderful donors for helping our classroom get new ink cartridges. This would not have been possible without your help. We live in a densely populated area that shares many of the challenges facing other cities of this size. As teachers, we're sensitive to the fact that many of our students struggle to get their basic needs met. Most of our students come to school carrying the heavy load of some kind of significant trauma. Our class is a self-contained, special education, behavior unit. We're great kids! We just need a little extra help. Our classroom is a safe environment designed to help us focus and learn.
