The Trip of a Lifetime
Funded Sep 15, 2014My students and their parents were super grateful after the tour ended. They had had an experience that they would likely never repeat: from the group flights, to the metro rides in Paris, to the Seine River boat tour, to Big Ben - students were very grateful for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Parents were also happy that their kids got home safely without having 'broken the bank.'
Though our trip is over, the experiences will stay with the kids forever, and it is this that GoogleLA should be most proud of: these kids from an inner city neighborhood have seen parts of the world so different from their own, that many expressed renewed motivation to succeed by going to college and studying abroad. Many students expressed an interest in learning foreign languages, such as France. Everyone is engaged in sharing pictures and memories from this incredible trip.
I know that I learned much. As a history teacher, my pedagogy was enriched from seeing first hand the places which are so important to my curriculum. I got a fresh perspectives from walking around the streets of Paris, seeing first-hand the Tower of London, and also hearing many interesting anecdotes from our incredible tour guides.
Thank you so much for your indelible contribution to this trip.”

Of Writing, Reading, and the Ability to See It
Funded Aug 30, 2010Technology is a precious asset in the 21st century classroom. As such, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for providing my World History students with technology that allows them to co-construct knowledge with me and with their peers. Since receiving our document camera, the students have worked on analytical questions related to literature, primary sources, and imagery. We have used the equipment to more effectively share out ideas, and encourage self and group reflection. The students' ability to communicate effectively has been significantly advanced.
Thank you again for your generous donation and support!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Hermosillo
