  • Programming & Coding in Everyday Life

    Let me start by again saying thank you for your incredible donation to the students in my rural Delta classroom. They are always excited when an Amazon box arrives because they know it will me something great they will have access to in class.

    When this programmable vacuum cleaner robot arrived they all laughed. Then a few admitted their mom had one at home. Soon we had the this out and on the charger so we could start learning about it. This model allows for the user to program the functions and capabilities. So they were off. before I knew it they had the thinks vacuuming everything in the room. With COVID-19, this will be a powerful teaching took for programming and coding for years to come.”

    This year there are many unknowns in the classroom, so I am looking for ways to extend leaning beyond our studies in the classroom. With the items in this grant, students will take the items they are using in class home to make observations about the weather. They will then report back to class so that we can see a bigger picture of the weather in our area.”

  • Coding Our Way Into the Future

    Let me start by again saying thank you for your amazing contribution to the students in my small, rural delta school district. My students are always eager to learn especially in not traditional ways. The items in this grant will definitely meet this qualification.

    My students were so excited when the Amazon delivery arrived in our classroom. They opened the boxes and immediately began to play with the robots. We spent the entire class just letting them play and explore with them, which I think is a fun way to introduce. Over the next few weeks, I will begin to design lessons around them that will focus our understanding of programming & coding.”

  • Earning and Saving With a Job in Computer Science

    Let me start by again saying thank you for your amazing contributions to the students in my rural Delta classroom. The impact that this project and materials will have on my students will continue for many years.

    Once we got the box open my students were immediately intrigued. They really had no idea what a Makey-Makey was. To be honest, I was not really sure of myself. I knew however that they would be excited to learn. And excited they were. their first plan was to run to YouTube, the information center of the age. After a few videos, they were ready to get started.

    We have been playing with them since they arrived, and I am excited to begin to plan coding lessons to help see my students grow.”
