The Bouncy Obstacle Course (The BOC)
Funded Oct 7, 2022Thank you very much for the Bounce House Castle! Our students love having this as an option during Physical Education class. As students are climbing into the bounce house, they are getting a cardiovascular workout without even realizing it. They are strengthening their arms and leg muscles as they pull themselve up to the top before sliding down the big slide with joyful faces! There is even an option for them to use the basketball hoop or crawl around in the ball pit.
When the bounce house first showed up, they were amazed at the size of the castle! They love exploring the different options for how to use the castle. They have two different size slides, as well as the basketball hoop and ball pit. They are so happy and thankful to have this as a part of their Physical Education experience.
Incorporating the bounce house into our repertoire of activities has been quite an addition. They have had so many new experiences this school year along with your generous donation of the bouncy house. They were also introduced to our new traverse rock climing wall. We look forward to developing and exploring even more innovative ways for children to actively participate in Physical Education.”

Gym Mat-Mania
Funded Dec 7, 2021We have truly put these wonderful gymnastics/tumbling mats to good use. The students and I have used some of the mats for sit-ups/curl-ups, and push-ups in preparation for fitness testing. The other mats have been used primarily in grades K-3. They have been used to teach our students leadup gymnastics moves. Such as forward rolls, backward rolls, back walkovers, and log rolls. During stressful times such as these, the mats have served as a comfortable place for the students and I to take the time to stretch our minds and bodies. We have been engaging in yoga stretching and meditation practices in an effort to ease any emotional stressors that our young students may be experiencing. Thank you, again, for helping us to enhance our program.”

Funded Oct 14, 2021On behalf of our students on Public School #22 in Jersey City, I'd like to thank you very much for the puppet theatre and puppets. Our students have learned the history of sports, stars who have made an impact on their chosen sport, sports geography, etc. All students in grades K-3 have met my new puppet friends, Jose, Myron, and Mimi. The children are truly mesmerized by the puppets and it adds a whole new dimension to learning. The puppet stage gives us a theatrical feel and a nice way to cool down at the end of each class. The students ask for my puppet friends daily. Thanks again for supporting my students, school, and my initiative to bring new methods to reach all students.”

Funded Sep 13, 2021On behalf of the students at PS 22 in Jersey City, I would like to thank you for the generous donations that made it possible for me to purchase two air purifiers for my gymnasium. As a Physical Education teacher, I strive to teach my students to live a healthy life in and out of school. With the current situation regarding the health and safety of so many due to the pandemic, the need for more layers of safety is so important. The air purifiers in my gymnasium add additional protection for my students when they are engaged in Physical Education. Due to your generosity, I feel that I am creating a safer and healthier environment for my students.”

Mobile Video in the Gym
Funded Aug 24, 2021On behalf of the students at PS 22 in Jersey City, I would like to thank you for your donations, which made it possible for me to purchase a TV cart for my gymnasium.
I now have a safe place to store the television in the gym. At the end of each class, I have my students cool down before returning to their classrooms. I use the TV to play short videos for my students during this cool down time. The videos are always focused on some aspect of current sports or sports history. Most recently, I showed them a short video highlighting the life and career of Yankees reporter, Ed Lucas, who was born and raised in Jersey City. He became blind while playing baseball as a child, and spent the rest of his life working to become a sports reporter and interviewer whose career spanned over 50 years covering the New York Yankees.
Thanks to your generosity, I am able to continue to use a variety of resources to educate my students beyond the floor and walls of the gymnasium.”

P.E. ON THE BIG SCREEN
Funded Dec 23, 2020On behalf of my students, I would like to take the time to thank you for bringing my students and me closer together. As a Physical Education teacher, I am constantly moving towards and away from the computer during virtual learning. Prior to receiving the large monitor, I found it impossible to see all students at one time. Now, thanks to your generosity, I can view and interact with my entire class during Physical Education. The clarity and size of the monitor are simply amazing! I have been able to quickly determine which students have questions or comments about the activity, or who simply want to share a story with the class. I am able to engage in the Physical Education activity along with my children while monitoring the progress and participation of my students.
You made it possible for us to maintain continuity of learning during an unprecedented pandemic.”

Funded Feb 11, 2019Thank you for the generous donations that helped to fund the Going Ga-Ga For "Gaga" project. The students at M.S. #7 were so excited when the Gaga Pit finally arrived. Their excitement went to another level as they saw it inflate each time we used it. They could not wait to get their opportunity to compete in the game of Gaga. You have truly made a difference in the lives of my students. Not only are they able to participate in an engaging and cardiovascular workout, they are learning about a game from a culture different from their own. Thank you again. It is truly appreciated by ALL!!!”

Early Risers Fitness Club
Funded Jan 8, 2018I want to express my appreciation for your generosity in support of the Early Risers Fitness Club. Your personal commitment was incredibly helpful and allowed us to reach for the stars. Your assistance means so much to me but even more to our students. Thanks to contributions like yours, we have brought more and more students in from the cold before school to better themselves since the program started. The immediate impact the pedometers made is life changing.
Thank you! You truly have made a difference.
Thank you from all of us.”

Sports Video On Demand
Funded Dec 19, 2016Thank you so much for the generous donation of the Smart TV. I put the television to use soon after receiving it, and have found that it is useful in many ways. To begin with, I am able to video my students as they are learning sports skills. The students then have the opportunity to look back at their performance and self-reflect, as well as make corrections and adjustments as needed. Initially, they were nervous about seeing themselves on the a big screen. Soon, however, they became more comfortable with the idea of seeing themselves and their peers as they improved on their skills.
We have also used the television to view sports science videos from ESPN. This has given my students a deeper understanding of the science and physics behind sports, which allows for crossing over the content areas in school. During class, we also had the benefit of stepping away from Physical Education for a moment in order to view the Presidential Inauguration. It was wonderful to experience this historical event with my students.
At the end of each class period, when time allows, I try to take some down and offer students the chance to sing karaoke using the Smart TV. For some, they start to break out of their comfort zones a little, and it is fun and engaging for my students to let loose a little bit.
We are just scratching the surface as we discover the multitude of opportunities that the Smart TV can offer. I look forward to incorporating the Smart TV into future lessons and experiences for years to come. Thank you again, for helping to make this a successful experience for the students of Middle School 7.”
