The ACCESS Academy's current science program's philosophy, goals, and objectives are structured to stress skills and understanding equally. Much of the science curriculum is inquiry driven where students take part in learning experiences that teach them to ask and answer relevant questions. To help students reach their full potential in science -- and hopefully for some, stay on a science track -- students must be turned on to science in ways beyond 'cookbook' experiments. Our projects would greatly enhance the science curriculum by allowing children to electronically collect, analyze and graph scientific data. With technology, critical thinking moves to the forefront as students collaborate to discuss what the data means.
