Using Our Senses to Calm Us Down
Funded Dec 2, 2024On behalf of the entire school community, I want to express our deepest gratitude for your generous contribution to the sensory area. Your support has made it possible to create a space where our students can take a moment to relax, recharge, and process their emotions in a safe and calming environment. This sensory area is more than just a room—it's a sanctuary for students who need a break from the demands of the classroom. Your donation has played a vital role in helping us provide a resource that nurtures mental well-being and fosters a sense of peace for those who need it most.
With your help, we've been able to acquire a variety of sensory tools, including calming lights, soft textures, and interactive equipment, all of which are carefully chosen to help our students manage stress, anxiety, and sensory overload. These materials are not just tools—they are lifelines for many students who find it difficult to focus or cope with the challenges of everyday school life. The sensory area allows them to regain their composure and return to class with renewed focus and a positive mindset.
Your thoughtfulness and dedication to improving student mental health have had a profound impact on our school. Thanks to you, we now have a designated space that promotes emotional regulation, self-awareness, and overall well-being for our students. We are truly grateful for your contribution and your belief in the importance of supporting mental health initiatives in schools. Your generosity is making a lasting difference, and we are so appreciative of your kindness. Thank you again for your invaluable support”
With gratitude,
Mr. Fumero
This classroom project was brought to life by Google.org Teen Mental Health Initiative.Assistive Technology for ASD 2nd grade Students
Funded Feb 20, 2018My entire class and I would like to thank you for making this possible. As soon as I got the tablets I began searching fro different educational software that would engage and motivate my students throughout the learning day. I was able to integrate the tablets into our classroom's daily routine, giving every student equal opportunity to work with the tablets. After a few months of working with the tablets you can see the difference. All of my students seem to enjoy working on the tablets and are engaged for the most part while working with the tablets. Some of my students have expanded their vocabularies due in large part to being exposed to the educational games on the tablet. There are a few games that are favorites among the students. There is one in particular that requires the student to trace the letter of the alphabet using the tip of their finger. You can see the joy on their face every time they are praised for correctly completing the tracing of the letter.”
With gratitude,
