  • Teachers Pay Teachers for Students

    Funded May 27, 2020

Thank you for giving me the freedom to enhance my virtual instruction. Donating a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card gives me the speed and flexibility to change with our current educational environment. It also allows me to access the most up to date files which are digitized to enable me to send these learning experiences instantly to my students. Finally, utilizing teachers pay teachers frees up precious time to find ready-to-go lessons which are made of quality, visually inviting, and tied to standards. Again, thank you!”

  • Monitor for Distance Learning

    Funded May 21, 2020

Thank you for helping me better organize my screen situation. I was getting lost in tabs and browsers. Moving from the smaller display on my laptop to a dual screen setup has really helped organize my virtual teaching. The portable monitor also enables me to pack and move easily from spot to spot given how thin and light weight it is. This monitor makes trying to navigate online teaching less cluttered and eases the strain on my eyes because the resolution is of much better quality. For those two reasons, I am most grateful.”

  • Lego ev3 for Grade Three

    Funded Nov 26, 2019

Thank you so much for your financial generosity to my students. I'm grateful that your support benefits not only this year's students, but the classes I get with each new school year. This will benefit my students for years to come.

The kids are excited because STEM lessons always provide hands on learning that my students savor. They were especially excited when they saw that it was from LEGO. Though this set is more rigorous to put together than your typical LEGO set, the added difficulty is where creativity meets functionality. This set enables my students to work through problems collaboratively to attain solutions that best solve those issues. These are life skills that are absolutely necessary. All this comes in the context of fun!

Thank you again for enhancing our classroom experience and enabling my students to access STEM robotics!”

  • Printing Toner for 3rd Graders

    Funded Nov 26, 2019

This was a basic request that is extremely helpful. Our school site does not offer toner to classroom printers, but your generosity helped get beyond that hurdle. All of my third grade students print out their writing after they finish their drafts. This helps our classroom publish and celebrate our writing.

My students enjoy using Google Docs to finalize their work and the toner of the printer that you helped sponsor allows us to display our learning.

Once again, thank you for your generosity. Our classroom is that much better because of you!”

  • Apple TV to Cast Student Learning

    Funded May 11, 2019

Thank you for funding another project that would have not happened otherwise. My constant goal is to keep my classroom technologically current and relevant. AppleTV will help cast student projects and give my classroom greater internet access to the benefit of all the all students and for years to come. Given that we already utilize Apple products, this will help simplify casting from the students' end. Another goal for my classroom is to reduce the number of cables and wires around the room; this is both for cosmetic and safety reasons. Again thank you for your generosity!”

  • Earbuds for Students!

    Funded May 1, 2019

Thank you again for your generosity. These earbuds will help individualize moments in the classroom where students need to access certain videos for content. One-to-two times a week, I have my students do either Hour of Code or Khan Academy. Both sites are beneficial to differentiating their learning. Yet, both sites require video footage that caters to each child's individual progress. Without earbuds it becomes difficult for each child to hear what is important to them. With your generosity, now each child will have their own earbuds with a case. Thank you!”

  • Coding With Robots

    Funded Apr 12, 2019

Thank you so much for your vested interest into our classroom.

These coding robots enable my students to get a concrete visual into the coding process. They are able to see that coding requires precise step by step thinking. In that way it is a good way to see if their logical reasoning is in tact. If a mistake is made, students learn from those mistakes and rework their code to see if the robot will actually complete what was intended. This helps my students understand that with each unique attempt, they have either eliminated one way that doesn't work or they have found a solution. This is critical in the engineering process.

Even better, this is all within the umbrella of "fun", so thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Ekk

  • Projector and Document Camera to Showoff Student Learning!

    Funded Feb 9, 2019

Using projectors and document readers are classroom essentials now. The goal is to have a common place to share learning. From the pictures uploaded, you can quickly see how this technology builds classroom environment and enhances student learning.

The projector and camera combination is used for many things in the classroom. I'll name a few so you can get an idea of why your donations to this project matter so much. 1) I project my read alouds using a reading app which allows all students to access the text. This means I don't need to buy class sets for each read aloud. 2) Student can bring their own work to the front and share their thinking with the class. Instead of me describing what the student has done, the student can explain their own thinking. This is really helpful when discussing math problem solving. 3) I have access to videos for each and every subject matter that again can be visible all my students. 4) I can project any of my devices to build their digital learning. There are many more uses, but I'll leave you with one more.

By using a projector, I no longer need to turn my back to the class when writing on the board. Folks, this is an instructional game changer :).”

  • Chromebook Kids

    Funded May 24, 2018

Thank you for opening up my classroom to the net. My students will benefit from your generosity and grow in their digital learning. The chromebooks will give my students access to the Google Suite of apps, especially Google Classroom which will serve as our digital classroom hub. I'm excited for my students because many of them haven't had the simple opportunity to present their thinking using various types of applications. This year my 4th graders will learn how to develop content and continue to use websites which I believe will enhance their learning. All thanks to your donations!”

  • Graphic Novels for the Classroom Library Win!

    Funded Aug 9, 2017

Thank you so much for further building our classroom library. I quickly mentioned to the students that some brand new books were donated to them from generous people like you. That got us talking about what donations and generosity mean. Then, slowly but surely, the students began to ask to read the graphic picture books.

Part of the reason I wanted these books was to give my students a greater variety of genre.

I have my students read silently every day in our classroom to build up their literacy strength. Many of my students don't have access to quality literature at home, so our classroom must be a print rich environment. I want my room to be a place where students are excited to read literature of their own choosing.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Ekk

My students are wonderful, motivated learners living the day to day life in a lower social, economical urban area of California. They all receive free lunches with breakfast in the morning. Our class is entirely Latino and a good representation of the whole school demographic. The school we learn at is dedicated to student learning and strives to look to all the positives taking place. We love to recognize success with our "Caught You Being Good" incentive program.
