Stocked and Ready to Learn: Classroom Supplies Refresh
Funded Dec 31, 2024Thank you so much for your generous support of my project, Stocked and Ready to Learn: Classroom Supplies Refresh. The items you helped fund—pencils, pens, Flair markers, scissors, and Clorox wipes—have made a big difference in keeping our classroom organized, prepared, and running smoothly.
The bulk pack of pre-sharpened pencils has been incredibly helpful, especially during writing-intensive lessons. The Flair pens are perfect for annotating texts, and we've been using them during close reading and peer review activities. The new scissors have come in handy for various creative projects, and the pens have helped ensure that every student has what they need to stay focused and engaged. The Clorox wipes are a staple in maintaining a clean and healthy classroom environment, and we've been using them regularly.
Thanks to your generosity, we're stocked with essential supplies that support both daily routines and deeper learning. I'm so grateful for your support and for helping make our classroom a more productive and welcoming place to learn.”

Bringing Classics to Life: A Streetcar Named Desire for AP
Funded Dec 4, 2024Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting our project, Bringing Classics to Life: A Streetcar Named Desire for AP. Because of your donation, my students were able to engage deeply with Tennessee Williams' iconic play, reading from their own copies, annotating directly in the text, and developing essential literary analysis skills.
In our classroom, reading is always interactive — students are constantly annotating, asking questions, and discussing their ideas with each other. Having personal copies of A Streetcar Named Desire allowed them to mark up the text freely and build confidence in their interpretations. We focused on analyzing Williams' language, character development, and themes, especially how power, gender, and class shape the world of the play.
Several students shared that this was the first time they felt truly connected to a classic text because the characters felt real and flawed — and they loved being able to track their thoughts right in the margins. Even students who are usually hesitant to write produced some of their strongest work after analyzing key scenes and connecting them to larger themes about illusion and reality. Moments like that would not have been possible without your support.
Thank you for bringing this play to life for my students and for helping make classic literature feel relevant, accessible, and even fun. Your generosity makes a real difference in our classroom.”

Funded Oct 2, 2024Thank you so much for your generous support of our project, Headphones for Focus: Amplifying Learning Through Audio. These headphones have made an incredible impact on my classroom, creating new opportunities for students to engage with their learning in ways that weren't possible before.
With the headphones, students can access audio versions of the novels we study, making complex and challenging texts much more approachable. Hearing the rhythm and tone of the writing brings stories to life in a way that print alone cannot. For many students, following along with the audio while reading has boosted their comprehension and made it easier to dive into our discussions with confidence.
What's most exciting is how enthusiastic students are about using the headphones. They often reach for them during independent work time, and it's been inspiring to see how much more focused and engaged they are as a result. For those who previously struggled to follow along with traditional reading assignments, having access to audio has been a game-changer.
Your generosity has given my students a tool that not only supports their learning but also helps them discover a love for literature. Thank you for helping to create a classroom where every student can thrive.”

Funded Aug 20, 2024I can't thank you enough for supporting my AP Literature students with fresh copies of Sing, Unburied, Sing, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, and Song of Solomon. These books have already transformed the way my students engage with literature. Instead of merely reading, they are fully immersed—annotating directly in the texts, underlining impactful passages, and jotting down personal reflections. This hands-on approach allows them to connect more deeply with the material, fostering a level of critical thinking that prepares them for college and beyond.
In class, our discussions have been more vibrant and thought-provoking than ever. These novels have sparked incredible conversations about identity, heritage, and resilience, with students bringing their unique perspectives to the table. Khalil, one of my most reluctant writers, has been captivated by the themes in Sing, Unburied, Sing and has started sharing insightful connections with his peers. Munirah, a student I've known since her freshman year, often goes above and beyond with her annotations, using them to lead small group discussions. These texts are not just books—they are gateways for my students to explore themselves and the world around them.
Your generosity has made a lasting impact on my classroom. Thank you for believing in my students and investing in their growth as readers, writers, and thinkers. Your support means the world to us!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Eaton
College Bound Scholars Read J.D. Salinger
Funded Dec 26, 2010Thank you so much for donating copies of The Catcher in the Rye. Every single student read the book and contributed to the class discussions. I'm so thankful that the girls were able to take the books home.
Currently, they're working on a research project associated with the novel and it wouldn't be possible without enough books for every student. Our school has limited resources and the students finally have access to suitable resources. Again, your contribution is priceless and you've truly contributed to the literacy of our students.”

Funded Dec 22, 2010Thank you so much for funding this project!
My students are really beginning to analyze the nuances of public education in the United States. They've been reading their brand new copies of Savage Inequalities and using them as part of their own research project on issues in American education. Without your support, my students wouldn't have been able to take the books home and complete in depth reading assignments. Your contribution puts us one step closer to equaling the playing field for students in our public schools.”

Funded Dec 15, 2010Thank you so much for donating copies of The Scarlet Letter to my students. They are almost finished reading the novel and our classroom discussions have been thought-provoking and exciting. I can't tell you what a difference it makes for students to be able to take the books home and experience reading outside of school.
They are beginning a project where they add their own chapter to the novel. The girls are so excited! Without your help, this wouldn't have been possible.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you.”

Funded Dec 8, 2010I can't begin to thank you for donating copies of the AP Exam Prep Books. These books have allowed my students to begin preparing for an exam to earn college credit.
For some of my students, the possibility of going to college was never in the cards. After being exposed to a high expectations environment at our school, they've been able to flourish and focus on their goals.
They, more than anyone I've ever met, acknowledge the value of earning college credit. They've been working in their prep books with diligence and I know they will succeed.
Thank you for your invaluable contribution to my students' future.”
