Assessments for Listening & Comprehension
Funded Dec 1, 2020Wow! I'm continuously amazed and inspired by human generosity. You've helped me and my follow teachers to share these materials and better serve our Deaf and Hard of Hearing student population more accurately during a time needed most. assessments should always guide instruction and the materials you helped to fund will allow us to do just that--target areas of need in language, communication, reading, comprehension, and auditory perception. Thank you again for seeing a need and breathing life and hope into it.”

Funded Sep 23, 2019Thank you for your donation to my professional learning project. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend ASHA this year because of financing, but I was able to attend CEC in Portland. I'm so happy that I did because I was able to attend a wide variety of workshops on working and supporting students of varying abilities and needs. I, of course, attended workshops specific to deaf education but was also able to attend workshops on PBIS, coaching, instruction, and data analysis, which builds my capacity as an educator of students with disabilities as well as a teacher leader. I hope to get the opportunity to attend again next year! thank you again for your generosity.”

Funded Dec 3, 2019This project was a special one for me! I've been trying to find a way for parents to learn ASL along side their children for a long time. your donations allowed me to give parents that opportunity and other family members at home too! School closures due to COVID-19 forced children and families to stay in, unfortunately, but also provided them with the opportunity to practice their communication! I hear from parents all the time "I know what she's saying!" or "it's fun and the whole family joins in!" this is because of your generosity! thank you, thank you, thank you!”

Funded May 28, 2019Thank you so much for giving to our project. As noted in the project I like to use the summer time to help our students learn more about the world, jobs they are not usually exposed to, and have hands on experience in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. During the school year this is such a hard feat as curriculum pacing and state standards are guided by guidelines and our students typically have such huge achievement gaps to close. This summer we chose to focus on coding and engineering and I can tell you they had SO MUCH FUN. Our summer theme was sports and we decided to use the robots we built to play a game of "garbage ball," which is similar to basketball, but on a smaller scale. Funny enough we didn't realize the arms didn't work so we weren't able to complete the game, but we did have a robot race and they loved it. As a teacher the most rewarding part was watching them collaborated and compete on which team worked the hardest together. Again, I thank you for your generosity for these materials as we can use them every summer!”

Funded Apr 18, 2019I cannot express how amazing my students were in this performance! It's hard to imagine that this is only our second year in a musical theater program. T hard work goes to all of the teachers, parents, and staff putting this together, but more importantly THE STUDENTS! a student was involved in every single part of making this production happen including sets, costumes, props, scenery, acting, singing, dancing, lighting, recording, and more! I never though it was possible for students to be as immersed in a program as they are with our disney program. We have to thank you, the donors for contributing to this project. without you, our costumes would not have come to life as much as they had with the face paint. or the twine and ribbons to make props and costumes. or even have smooth transitions with the walkie talkies for backstage. We are all very thankful and our students thank you too!
Until next year!”

Funded Mar 27, 2018Our students and program cannot thank you enough for your generosity. The iPads have been a welcome addition to our instructional approach and the students love them!
The iPads have allowed us to work much closer with students and focus in on their individual needs. Students have played educational games, looked up images for vocabulary words and even created a superhero movie utilizing apps on the ipads. Student behavior was also impacted by the ipads, students are so excited to get the opportunity to use them that it has become a part of the reward system. overall, we can not thank you enough for your donation.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Ripple.Vocabulary Cards in MY Language!
Funded Dec 27, 2017Again, I cannot thank you enough for you generosity in funding this project. It is imperative for our deaf and hard of hearing students to have the language intervention to succeed in academic settings. As you are aware, our student come to school 5+ years old many times with no communication strategies aside from a home based gestural system. It has been our goal to provide our students with a basis in English and Sign Language so they would be able to communicate with their families, friends, and have access to curriculum.
Our new curriculum allows us to focus on vocabulary development in the students home language as well as ASL. students receive 10 words a week in the form of flash cards. To make the flash card packs, we need a number of materials. This includes cardstock, ink laminating pages, and binder rings. Thus far, our students have learned and been constantly exposed at least 300+ words.
The students love their flashcards and parents enjoy learning the signs with their children. The vocabulary packs allow the students to practice on their own, often on the bus to and from home, or with a friend. Our lower grade students, specifically grades k-2, have benefited most as we see them able to communicate in ASL with their classmates.
This development was made possible because of your donation. From team HES@x333 and all of our students and parents, we thank you”

Mr. Hall
We Are All Different and That Makes Us the Same
Funded Aug 24, 2016Words can not express my immense gratitude for your donations. Because of your generosity we were able to study books that were relevant to us and examine our preconceived thoughts on society. I can't describe the look on my students faces when I showed them the books. They were excited to see characters that looked like them and just to have books that were new and appeared untouched. Many of the books we've read many of the books together as a class and one of our favorites is "Mango, Abuela, and Me." The story is about a little girl and her grandmother whom are unable to communicate at first because of differing languages, but learn to communicate through gestures and pictures. They then teach each other their respective languages and it brings them closer. This book in particular resonated with us because we have such a wide range of spoken and signed languages in our classroom and at home it is difficult for students to communicate with family members. We were able to see ourselves in the little girl and see how we can help others communicate better. My students send their gratitude and tell me to say "We love you, Donors!"”

Mr. Hall
