Engaging News Magazines for My Readers
Funded Jul 11, 2017Fostering a love for reading in the classroom is one of the greatest things an elementary teacher can do. You helped make that possible with your donations and assistance purchasing Scope magazine for my students.
Reading is something we do each and every day. Whether we are recreational reading, reading for an assignment or for content, we are always reading. Having a high interest reading source like Scope magazine allows students to better connect with what they are reading. When students connect, it is easier for them to learn. Some of our English Language Learners might not have the background knowledge to understand all of the articles, but because Scope includes online audio support, vibrant pictures and other graphics, these students are still able to engage with the reading.
Thank you so much for contributing to the learning and growing of my students. You have enriched their lives and the world will be a better place for it.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Perry
This classroom project was brought to life by Sergey Brin Family Foundation and 6 other donors.Laptops for My Learners
Funded Aug 16, 2016The laptop donation to my classroom has made a profound impact on my students. Their ability to research, write papers, use math applications and so much more has made for a more diverse and immersive classroom.
I was also able to purchase headphones with microphones for some of the students that allow them to record themselves and create presentations among other things.
I also purchased a classroom magazine called Scope. The magazine is full of articles of both fiction and non-fiction nature. These articles come with close-reading questions, vocabulary, explanatory videos and quizzes. The students love the content and I appreciate how well put together it is.
Thank you for your generosity.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Perry
