  • Great Books for Great Readers and Discussion!

    Funded Dec 2, 2020

Thank you so much for helping to make this possible. In such challenging times, a lot of really positive things are happening and my kids love great stories. I have been talking to my students about some of these titles and it will be wonderful to start off new reading groups with these in the new year!

I greatly appreciate your generosity in helping to make this happen and my students will as well.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Christiansen

  • Graphic Novels Make Excited Readers!

    Funded Mar 9, 2020

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom! This has been an incredibly challenging year and the need for good stories for my students has never been more important.

Even though we aren't able to take books out of the school (all of our students are currently remote!), we use these books for read aloud and, wherever possible, I am getting digital versions to my students to read as well. This has been really successful and once they get started with a story, they really want to see how it will develop.

Some of our most successful and involved discussions so far have been about our shared readings and virtual shared readings. Having these books on hand to show to kids really matters and I am really looking forward to the days when my students can get these books in their own hands - and we are currently trying to mimic what the New York Public Library is doing. Thank you so much for your generosity and support. It makes such a difference.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Christiansen

  • Our Robotics Team Needs Design Materials!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thanks so much for your donation. This whole club simply wouldn't happen without the generosity of donors. Now our students are able to expand off their previous ideas, improving the robot's reach and functionality. Without these parts, there was a whole section of the competition that we were unable to participate in.

My students are in the process of figuring out how to incorporate their new parts into the new build. Overall, the Robotics Team has really become an amazing collaborative opportunity for so many of my students and a great chance for so many of our young women to get involved in technology and design.

Thank you so much for all your support.”

    Mr. Christiansen

  • Help Build a Coding Library So My Students Can Code!

    Funded Dec 5, 2017

Thank you so much for all of your incredible generosity in making this library happen for my students. These are attractive and clear reading materials that my students enjoy using, although they do need to be reminded that it's not always best to just "Google" everything that you can. Having a quality linear explanation of the methods and the codes that they are working with really does help students to understand pieces of code that they might not have so easily understood.

There's also something incredibly nice about a library in a computer lab. The mere fact that these books exist in our classroom lends experience and importance to our work.

Thank you so much for your gift.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Christiansen

  • A Mobile Technology Cart to Make Class Better!

    Funded Nov 6, 2017

Thank you so much for your kind donation. Many people who don't teach don't realize how quality materials really impact student learning, even if it's something like furniture. This cart keeps us organized and we're able to get all of our audio visual equipment up and running in a moment. It's an attractive color and it's become a bit of an informal podium for student presentations.

It's the type of thing that students rarely come out and say "Thank you" for, but they notice. They certainly notice that we can get right to work and not waste time unnecessarily. Thank you so much for your donation. It will help our class for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Christiansen

  • Our First FTC Team Needs Organization!

    Funded Oct 16, 2017

Thank you so much for your kind support. Without the organizational tools, a startup robotics team might just fall into chaos as we hunt all over for loosely organized parts. With these tools, they are able to get right to work and spend most of their time building and not hunting for parts in building frustration.

My students are happy and productive and they have no built their first robot! We head to competition in a few weeks as students get to be more familiar with how the robot handles and how to work with it while competing.

    Thanks once again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Christiansen

  • Vocabulary Books for Amazing ESL Students!

    Funded Aug 14, 2017

Thank you so much for helping to make this happen. So often, the exact resource that we need to make a great impact just isn't available or in the budget. Thanks to these books, we are able to help kids expand their vocabulary through exercises that are nicely leveled to their individual ability levels - and all of my kids are getting work and starting to use the vocabulary words that they're learning!

There are also great games with this system that let kids practice the words in a fun way until they feel like they have mastered them It's a great system. Thanks so much for helping to get it in the hands of my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Christiansen

  • Help Kids Make a Truly Awesome Graphics Display!

    Funded Apr 15, 2017

Thank you so much for helping to make this happen! This will enable us to turn almost any one of our laptops into a graphics powerhouse, enabling richer and larger displays for all students. And it looks really cool. Kids are excited to start using it in their final projects and I fully expect them to be able to produce some rich displays.

With this graphics amplifier, student displays can be richer, larger and more interactive while freeing up processing space. Out struggling computers will be able to keep up with design pieces that my students are creating and it can easily be plugged into any number of other computers! Thanks so much!”

  • Warby Parker Glasses for my Students!

    Funded May 4, 2017

thank you so much for making such an incredible difference for my students. Of course, you must realize how great this project is and how important this is for our young students. To be lucky enough to be there when kids put on their glasses for the first time and to see them look around, their smiles grow and there is a happiness and pride that I would love to be able to capture in a photograph some time.

Thirty young people got glasses and more, they felt understood, appreciated and as if people really cared about them. This is such a wonderful project. I greatly appreciate your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Christiansen

  • A Computer for Computer Aided Design & STEM!

    Funded Apr 6, 2017

Thank you so much! It is so nice having a computer that can handle graphics and not just stop in the middle of everything - click and wait, click and wait. Now we can work with a computer that can keep up with us. We are going to turn this into a Ubuntu dual boot computer (sorry, Bill Gates...) so we can try some interesting free graphics programs out there.

Right now, we are just getting started, but we will be designing our own armatures this month and then printing them out! I want to make a new chassis for our robot - something that works better and looks cooler. I think we can.

Thanks so much because now we have our own laptop and it's making a difference!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Christiansen
