  • Just the Basics

    It has only been a week since we received our pencils, cap erasers, paper, and pencil holders but they have already been put to good use! The pencil boxes helped organize the mess of colored pencils in the table caddies as well as hold some "emergency" pencils to help students stay focused and not have to get up and go lose. I think the thing the students were most excited about were the pencil sharpeners. They couldn't wait to try it out and we actually had to have a raffle to see who would be the first student to sharpen a new pencil with it. It might seems silly to be excited by some pencils and erasers but my students do understand and are grateful that is someone out there, someone they don't know who cares. I can not say this enough, Thank you!”

  • Table Caddies

    The school year has barely started and the Caddies and items are doing their job since day one! Our school it a title one school and there are students who don't always have the means to bring school supplies. The caddies are evened the playing field and the students don't have to worry about telling me they don't have their supplies.

    Also as part of my classroom procedures the students have to make sure that all materials are put away in the caddies in an organized manner, helping them learn responsibility and helping keep the classroom clean.

    I know the caddies and other items will help the students through out the year and I am truly thankful for donors like you!”

  • Diversifying our Books

    Funded Feb 18, 2022

    Thank you for your amazing donations to help not only my classroom but my fellow teachers classrooms. We were able to divide the books among the classrooms and present students with books with important historical people who look like them. I was able to start a "Person of the Week" section a students were able to read and learn about a new person they may have not known about already.

    The variety of the books made sure that all of my students could find a book that is on their level to be able to read. I read to the books aloud to the students and we had an amazing conversation on perseverance which was a timely conversation as we entered our end of the year testing.

    I know my students were grateful for the books and my future classes will also be grateful for these amazing books.”

  • Super Hero Readers

    The students are very excited reading the books that you have graciously provided to our classroom. The great thing about these books is that they are all at different reading levels but by looking at them you would not know. Which means my students that struggle at reading don't feel like they are being looked down on because of the books they have to read. That is the biggest hurdle to getting students to read is the fear of being embarrassed by the book they have to read.

    Since the books are about superheroes almost every students already have a interest in them and are sharing what they like the most about them to each other.

    One thing I didn't know when requesting the books are that they doodle books are actually a drawing and coloring book. I thought they more like graphic novels similar to "Diary of a Wimpy Kid". At first I didn't know what to do with them but one of my students suggested that after they read a book they could get a page out the book as a reward! I loved that idea and it has helped get them even more excited to reading knowing they can earn a superhero coloring page to do for free time.

  • A Computer for All

    thank you so much for your generosity. It means the world to me and my students to have a computer when it is needed. Within two days of receiving the computer I received a new students and they were able to jump right in to the class assignments with this computer and not skip a beat. Since then 7 different students have had to borrow the computer for extended periods of time to complete their school assignments and programs for a variety of reasons, left charger at home, left computer at home, to broken computers needing to be sent in for repair, which leaves them days without a computer to use. Once again this computer has made a major difference to me and my students. Thank you for everything!”

  • Just the Basics

    I know pencils are not the most exciting thing in the world, but I can say that my students were amazed with the amount of pencils we received. They were the most excited about the colorful cap erasers. Having these pencils has removed the fear and embarrassment of not having a pencil and having to ask to borrow one. the students know that if they need it, it will be there. Also they like that they are the "real wood pencils" that sharpen so nicely. Who knew kids could be pencil connoisseurs!”

  • Blocking Out Distractions.

    Thank you so much for your amazing donations. The students started using the headphones as soon as I opened the box. They are enjoying the fun colors and I am enjoying that they are able to stay focused in their seats while working. I have a few students who struggle with distractions and this is helping them block out those distractions and be more successful in class.

    The quality of their work has increased as well as their attentiveness. They are very thankful for the headphones and are taking great care to make sure they stay working. They make sure to clean them before and after they use them and place them back into the basket for safe keeping.

  • Math BOARDS for Learning

    Funded Sep 3, 2021

    The math boards have worked out better than I could have ever hoped! The students have absolutely loved using them during math time. It has greatly reduced the amount of paper we have been using. Also they are more willing to do their work on the boards while on the computer which has helped their grades improve. The extra space has allowed them to do longer more complex multi step questions on the board and show me their work.

    It is also allowing them to practice responsibility by making sure they treat them correctly and return them to the correct spot.

    As an added bonus on rainy days students are enjoying drawing on them and playing games with each other during inside recess!

    I have had a few teachers come and visit to see the boards in action and they are excited about possibly getting some for their rooms as well.”

  • "REAL" Motivational Reading

    Thank you for helping to put these books into my students hands. When they saw them they were excited to read them. The biographies have been a huge success. Working with their reading teacher they now have easy access to non fiction books which they are required to read as part of their reading grade. They are talking to each other about which book they are reading and which book they want to read next. Making suggestions to other students as well as wanting to share what they have learned with both the reading teacher and myself.

    Also I have a "Book of the Unit" that matches with the topic in science and our Health lessons that we are currently working on. Examples being The Wright Brothers will go with Force and Motion, Neil Armstrong when we get to Space, and Malala Yousafzai and Helen Keller will go with our health lessons on perseverance . If the students read the book during the Unit they are able to give me three interesting facts they can earn a prize in the class. Thank you for everything!”

  • Engaging STEM Readers

    The joy the students had when they saw the books is immeasurable! All of the books were immediately in students hands and they were reading them. The fact that most were graphic novels really help get my reluctant readers excited to read. It was amazing to see them talking about the books to other students letting them know that they should also read them. One student said it was a good way to remember about the human body that we already learned about and another enjoyed reading about space. I know my students in the upcoming years are going to enjoy these books as much as my students this year. Lastly the students wanted me to extend one more thank you for your generosity.”
