  • Reviving the 90s Gym Class Experience!

    Funded Dec 17, 2024

Thanks to your generosity, we were able to bring the 90s gym experience back to life for 300 middle schoolers! The excitement was contagious as students worked together with their brand-new parachutes, raced through obstacle courses on scooters, and got active with all the amazing new equipment.

Not only did this experience create unforgettable moments for our students, but it also sparked nostalgia for our teachers, reminding us all of the joy and teamwork that make physical education so special. Your support has made a lasting impact, and we are incredibly grateful for your kindness and commitment to our school community.

Thank you for making this possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Camargo

  • Math Through Design

    Funded Nov 10, 2023

Your commitment to education and your belief in the potential of our students have made a profound impact on their learning experience. Thanks to your generous contribution, we were able to provide the materials needed for our middle school students to design and construct their dream apartments using mathematics. This project has not only enriched their understanding of mathematical concepts but has also inspired creativity and critical thinking.

The students eagerly embraced the challenge of applying geometry to design and construct their dream living spaces. Your support enabled us to provide them with a wide range of materials, like cardboard, glue guns, markers and measuring tools. Witnessing the excitement and engagement among the students as they transformed mathematical concepts into tangible, real-world projects was truly heartwarming.

Once again, thank you for your invaluable contribution to our students' education. Your belief in the power of education to transform lives is evident in the smiles, enthusiasm, and newfound confidence of our students.”

  • Math Through Play!

    Funded Aug 31, 2022

Thank you for your generous donations to the "Math Through Play!" project. You have helped bring learning to life and have put many smiles on students' faces.

Students have truly made the most out of the materials. Many of them ask for free time so they get to play the games, which I have no problem with since they're still learning and reinforcing learned skills. Their favorite game is the "Making Change" game which allows us to interact in a real world scenario, while I pretend to be a cashier, students pretend to be customers who much provide the exact change with play money in order to purchase an item. This real life application has wonderfully tied together their experience of purchasing items at the deli across the school, and the mastered 6th grade lessons of arithmetic with decimals.

All the games you helped fund has made learning much more fun and interactive. Thank you for allowing us to learn through play!”

  • Engineering Club

    Funded Dec 26, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations. The funding of our Engineering Club provided our in-person students with the unique experience to redesign schools desk. The design of school desks has not seen progress in the past 100 years. Now during this pandemic, our middle school students are mandated to remain in seats and in the same classroom throughout the day. This created the perfect opportunity to allow our students to take charge and redesign their desks to meet their needs and create a more confortable and productive working environment.

The Engineering Club provided students with a hands-on challenged that allowed them to work on their problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills. Students learned about the Design thinking process and went through the steps to brainstorm, design and build a desk prototype. Students used technology to research prior ideas, gather inspiration, and sketch their own designs. They worked together to build, test, revise and reflect on their creations. In the end students were successful in creating a confortable and functional school desk, and in the process also developed a sense of accomplishment and self-worth.

Thank you for assisting our process. We are all grateful for your support.”

  • Bringing Volleyball to the South Bronx

    Funded Sep 11, 2019

Thanks to your generous donations, our school was able to offer Volleyball as an after-school elective for the first time. We had an amazing turn-out at try-outs, and the students that made the team were more than ecstatic.

Our school did not have any volleyball equipment, so this team would have been possible without your donation. Our team has been practicing every Thursday, and we are currently working on making them uniforms to prepare for their first game.

Thank you once again for providing this outlet to our students and for promoting mental health through physical activity.”

  • Community Service Art Club

    Funded Feb 28, 2019

Thank you deeply for funding our project. Our Community Service / Art Club was a success thanks to your generous donation. My students were so excited to go outside and use the cameras to snaps pictures of our community. Together, through the camera lens, we discovered the beauty of our neighborhood. They also created many wonderful designs with the use of the light-boxes, they traced and enhanced their own sketches.

My students are grateful to have the new technology available to them and were happy to put it to use towards a good cause. All their creations are slowly coming together and will be showcased on a website that we are building ourselves. In this website we will be highlighting all the resources available to our community, and we will feature the works of art inspired by our neighborhood and created by our students. We will continue to work on this site and will bring it to life with the help of your donations. Thanks again for your generosity and kind hearts.”

My project will take form of an after school club where students will get the opportunity to make a difference in their community through their interests, skills and community service project ideas. The Community Service Art Club provides students with a creative outlet and establishes a mindset of civic engagement. Students will get the chance to brainstorm ideas on how to help their community, for example: creation of a community map with all the resources available to the community. The final project will showcase all student created work in a website, including all the community focused drawings, paintings, and photographs.
