My students love to express themselves by making music. Singing, playing, dancing, and creating in the music classroom are ways to foster a lifelong love of music in every student. With the addition of ten ukuleles, students will learn to play and create songs together during our music class time. These will not only serve as a tool to teach fundamental instrument skills, but students will also be able to learn and practice literacy and math skills in reading music and counting rhythms. In addition to these skills, all students benefit from hands-on learning, but learning by moving and playing is particularly helpful for my special needs and ADHD students. Strumming and drumming keep them active and engaged in their learning! These instruments will serve as tools to create a life long love of music in each of my students. Each of my 600 students enjoys playing​ our bells and xylophones. The addition of 10 pairs of mallets will replace many of our chipped or failing mallets and will allow students to explore using two mallets while they perform. Thank you for considering your support of this project to benefit the musical lives of my students!
