  • From Salad Bar to Garden

    Funded Nov 27, 2023

    Thank you for supporting our composting initiative. We have begun the initial stage of our project by loading our new composters with our brown material (leaves), but since it is winter our composting is moving slowly with the cold temperatures. Once it begins to warm, we will (March) we will begin adding new salad bar waste from the cafeteria. As we warm through the spring and into summer temperatures, we will be able to complete the composting steps at a quicker pace.

    When the students first saw the composters, they were surprised at how large they were compared to our older devices, and are patiently waiting for me to let them completely fill them so they have one more chore to accomplish each week. (Pulling weeds gets old after a while.)

  • Providence Garden Gophers Boots Project

    Funded Jan 3, 2012

    On behalf of my students we thank you for your support to this project. This project to help supply students with sturdy water proof garden boots is making an immediate impact on the health and safety on the students. Without the boots the students were miserable, having to spend most of the day with wet shoes and socks and because of the high quality of the boots we are also able to work in the garden nearly year round. We have seen tremendous growth in the maturity of the students as they are relishing in the fact that they are becoming life-long naturalists. Again we thank you and wish you well.”

  • Providence Composting Project

    Funded Dec 13, 2011

    My Garden Gophers and I wish to extend our sincere gratitude for your support of our ongoing improvements to our school's courtyard and garden.

    The students are reading "The Garden Organic Guide to Making Compost" in their spare time so we can get a head start on our composting in the spring. The Now You See It, Now You Don t See-Through Compost Container will soon be put into use in our school's science laboratory. The pH and moisture content testers will be a great help this summer as we keep the garden growing between school years.

    Again we thank you for your contribution to our school and community. Your efforts to help make this a better learning environment are very much appreciated. ”
