Boards of History

Funded Feb 4, 2019

I can not start to explain how much gratitude that I and our students have for the board we received in our class! While it may seem something simple the board has allowed for such flexibility in providing information to students and allowing us to have new activities done in class. This has proved especially helpful as students are preparing for their state and AP exams.

While the class has a board in class, I find the need for more real estate to cover both Civics and AP World classes. Here the board has been handy in that it allowed for extra material to be on the board; we can even move the board around to make sure that everyone in the room is able to see it!

The students had a surprised reaction and were intrigued on what we were going to do with the board. They were surprised to see that the board was able to rotate and flip to hide information from them and some were excited by some of the possibilities of its uses. We used the board to play review games in where students would write a question on one side of the board and the answer on the other. Students would look at the question and answer on their own. When time was up they would flip the board to see what the answer was. While it may seem like a gimmick students liked the anticipation to see if they received the correct answer. Other games would involve trivia games that required two students on either side of the board where they would have to answer questions on the board and the team that had the most answers correct would win. The students enjoyed these new activities and it wouldn't have made possible without the new project!

As a class, we are extremely grateful for the board and the flexibility it has allowed us to prepare for exams and find new creative ways to engage the whole class. We are finding ways to incorporate it in our upcoming projects and reviews. Thank you!!”

With gratitude,

Mr. B.
