The donations to this project will allow students to finally access much needed technology that is needed in today's technology heavy world. Having the pair of iPads will allow for different structures of learning in my classroom. One way they will be used is as a way to differentiate learning for math. Students that are at a higher level of proficiency can access websites and apps (like TenMarks), to help extend their understanding of math concepts. Meanwhile, I'd have the ability to direct my resources towards helping those struggling with basic math concepts. Another way the iPads will be utilized is to help with reading instruction. Lower level readers would be able to use websites to help develop basic reading skills. Also, the iPads would allow non-fluent readers to listen to audiobooks to help them comprehend reading passages, rather than struggle with decoding difficult words. The use of iPads would also allow students a way to perform research for topics in science and history. Funding this project WILL make a difference because these students are currently being asked to learn in a technological world, while using non-technological tools. Our classrooms are not yet at the level technologically to meet their needs as learners however, grant will help to close that gap just a little bit more.
