  • Books, Books And More Books

    Funded Aug 28, 2012

I want to thank each of you who donated to my classroom project! I can't even tell you how overwhelmed I was by the generosity of my family and friends for your financial and personal support. It really means the world to me.

To say that my students are excited is an understatement! They cannot wait to have a shelf full of books in the classroom! I am excited to share with them books which will give them a look into the diverse world we live in. I hope that through these books, my students will see that there is beauty in diversity!

Our books should be arriving this week sometime, and I can hardly wait to see their reaction when we open the box! Thank you again for your support”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Proctor

To say that my students are excited is an understatement! They cannot wait to have a shelf full of books in the classroom! Their faces light up when we talk about the project. So, please know that your donation has put a smile on the faces of many students! Additionally, you are helping to increase literacy and foster a life-long love of reading!

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Proctor

I teach at a middle school in an impoverished neighborhood. The students I teach don't have fancy clothes and technology, they don't go home to big fancy homes and they don't have their own personal library at home. What these students DO have is a desire to learn, a respect for education, and a dream to make something of their lives so that they can have a bright future free of the struggles that they currently know. Reading, and developing a love of books will improve their academic success in every subject. I want my students to WANT to pick up a book, not see it as a chore or punishment.
