iPods for Innovative Learning
Funded Dec 12, 2011Thank you so much for the new technology that you have donated and provided for our students! My students have used these iTouches every day since they first opened the package. They may only be in second grade but have discovered many innovative ways to use them in our everyday curriculum; practicing math facts, accessing the Internet to research extreme weather conditions for a project, taking pictures and videos, and reading books.
Our school and district have undergone many budget cuts in the past year. Without your help, my students would not have been able to use technology like this in school. By using new technology, my students have been learning to think more creatively and have grown more comfortable with a variety of 21st-century tools to enhance their learning.
We are learning in the 21st century thanks to donors like you! ”
With gratitude,

This classroom project was brought to life by People's United Community Foundation and 5 other donors.Flip for Assessment!
Funded Sep 6, 2011Thank you so much for your generous donations. The four Sony Bloggie video cameras (production and sales were stopped on Flip cameras) that you donated to our class have been a tremendous hit! The students were so excited when they arrived and I was delighted at how quickly my second graders learned to navigate through the many options; including capturing and viewing both the videos and the still shots.
My students are now using new technology in new and exciting ways. These Sony video cameras have allowed my students to create videos and skits to show what they have learned. Students have been able to view the videos, share with others, and reflect on their work. Students have also been using them to take pictures and document work that they are proud of, record demonstrations, and reflect on and evaluate collaborative group work. Student videos are also being stored as part of their own digital portfolios. We are especially excited to use the cameras in our upcoming science unit to document our understanding of the scientific process.
Creating and synthesizing information is higher and complex thinking. The Sony video cameras have opened new doors for many of the students and have given them all the opportunity to make meaning of what they learn and transfer that knowledge in creative ways using technology. Thank you so much for donating to our video camera project. It is people like you that make a difference and help empower our future generation! ”
