Look at what your help as done for our students!

Our students (specifically the whole 9th grade that circulate through my science classroom) were able to create their very own websites using google sites to present their research and action plan on their chronic illness. Some examples of these websites are linked below (for more examples, please email me at mpatel@herohigh.net):

About 160 students were able to present in front of esteemed guests! These students were fortunate enough to have a set of computers in the classroom to complete this work. Not only were they learning how to use their resources to conduct legitimate research, but they were also becoming creative in their presenting styles. The confidence that was seen while students were given their presentations was something that we were all so very proud of! Words do not do these presentations justice (please email me for more pictures of students presenting (mpatel@herohigh.net).

Outside of their presentations, students are using this technology to build independency and other college ready skills such as taking notes, previewing lessons before lectures, effective group work and studying habits. They struggle and they are challenged with a lot of science vocabulary and concepts, but, they are working their way through it because the resources are literally available at their fingertips. Students are working to achieve mastery on their own and once they feel confident enough, they are helping their peers rise up to the challenge. The community in my classroom has been shaped by building positive habits that lead to the growth mindset of my students because the resources are readily available for them. It even helps my students feel comfortable enough to make mistakes! Making mistakes has always been looked down upon, but now that they are able to advocate for themselves, they have created a space with this technology to take learning into their own hands allowing themselves the chance to learn from their mistakes.

We could not have done this without your generous contributions to these students!”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Patel
