Exploring Racial Identity in Literature

Funded Dec 21, 2017

We are so thankful for our copies of The Bluest Eye. Students have been devouring the text and we're almost finished!

Each night they read about 20 pages of text. They come to class prepared to share their observations and questions. We've had in depth discussions about racial identity, specifically focusing on how young black girls experience the world. Many students have shared that this novel is their favorite text of the year.

After students finish the novel next week, we'll start developing written analysis. I can't wait to read their work!”

With gratitude,

Mr. Eaton
