Classroom Laptop for Math!
Funded Apr 7, 2022Not every student is a great test-taker, so I try to give my students an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding of concepts and skills on a digital platform as well. They have unlimited attempts per question, so it takes a lot of the anxiety out of assessment. However, post-remote learning, many students lost their home devices, so this computer has provided access to many students. I also create lesson videos for each daily lesson, so students have better access to our Google Classroom materials when they return from extended Covid-related absences.
My students really love working on Windows 11! We also have less restrictions on this computer because it is not owned by the city. We have better access to sites like YouTube; I can decorate assignment postings with emojis; and best of all, the computer is really fast!
I have two students in particular who really need the technology but also need one-to-one coaching to complete those digital assignments, so this device has really helped make that possible. I cannot thank you all enough!”

Funded May 28, 2020Your generosity has truly changed the entire remote experience for my students. Now, instead of watching shaky videos with terrible lighting and blurry screens, my students are able to view bright, colorful videos of live math being demonstrated on their screens. I am able to record my work and my voice without the distractions of my pen or a makeshift tripod to hold up my iPhone. We are also able to record these videos on digital versions of the students' handouts so that struggling learners have an easier time of following along on their own papers.
When we return to the live classroom, we plan to continue making these tutorial videos as an extra support on our Google Classroom for students who miss class or need to revisit the lesson when trying their work independently. We also have the ability to project the apps of the iPad to the SmartBoard, making our math class more fun and interactive for all of our students. Lastly, when we do small group instruction for struggling learners, we can have the iPad record the session so that those students can have access to their instructional modifications from home. This is an educational game changer for our classroom, and I simply cannot thank you enough!”

Funded Jan 5, 2015There's something really special and exciting about opening a brand new book for the first time; the crack of the hard cover binding and the scent of brand new glossy pages filled with bright, beautiful colors and a lot of promise. I watched my seniors experience that this early Friday morning, and watching their eyes and smiles light up was absolutely priceless. We began the second semester and our study of inferential statistics earlier this week. The new energy and excitement that has been infused into our class is 100% because of all of you.
We began our class by exploring the parts of the book as well as why I chose the book for them. The authors took a lot of care to write this book for teenagers so they could learn in a way they could understand and enjoy. You could hear sounds of excitement as we turned the pages to see worked out examples, diagrams, cartoons, practice examples, and lists of "What Can Go Wrong" for each chapter. I even heard some students comment on how recent the data was and how exciting it would be to take a closer look. As a teacher, how could I ever possibly thank you enough for THAT?
This morning, my students began to surrender their old statistics text books. They did so enthusiastically! I also spent time showing this new resource to our principal who is even more convinced that now is the time to add to your donation and obtain a full class set for next school year. As we move into a new state-of-the-art facility, I am excited to report that our statistics course becomes more rigorous with every passing school year. With your donation, it is now our goal to change the course into an Advanced Placement course within the next two years. So thank you for helping me show my students what they are capable of. Thank you for helping me show my school where we can go in the future. Your kindness, generosity, and support have helped to positively change our current and future students.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Moreau
