  • Scholastic, Let Me Know What's Going On!

    Funded Oct 22, 2021

I am grateful for your donation to this projects. My students were thrilled as each packet arrived. They were eager to read non-fiction text and learn about different topics and events happening in the world. They loved reading about Holidays, Animals, and people making an impact in our world.

My students also enjoyed the Opinion/Debate section of these magazines. They loved to share their ideas and were able to practice their Opinion writing with interesting topics such as, "Should students have homework?' and "Are group projects necessary in class?"

Thank you for providing my students with this great resource and helping me expand their love for learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reyes

  • Happy Artist

    Funded Jan 4, 2022

Thank you for your contribution to our project. My students were thrilled when the material arrived and eagerly awaited the lessons where they will get to use them.

You have brightened their days by giving them an opportunity to create hands on projects using the markers, paints, pencils, and clay. They have enjoyed learning to play music and include the arts in different academic areas. They have been inspired to paint and to share their ideas using the modeling clay in science and engineering.

I am grateful for your donation and allowing my students to show their creativity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reyes

  • Reading Unites Us

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

I am grateful for your donation to this project. My students were able to participate in the Global Read Aloud with other students across the United State and other countries.

We read a different book on a weekly basis and students were able to learn about their culture and see themselves in many of these characters illustrated and written about by Duncan Tonatiuh.

Students communicated through Flipgrid to discuss the books and share their thinking. They wrote about the characters and made paintings inspired by Diego Rivera.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reyes

  • Mindfulness Is Essential

    Funded Sep 18, 2020

I am grateful for your thoughtfulness and donation to our class. My students were thrilled to know they would be receiving these materials. During this pandemic time, many have felt sadness like they had never experienced before. They feel lonely without being able to be at school physically and bored having to stay indoors.

These items will bring moments of joy as they draw, play, and read together with their loved ones. At the moment our school is unable to be opened for distribution, but as soon as it is possible my students will be delighted to receive their book, sketchpad, and UNO cards.”

  • Music in Distance Learning

    Funded Aug 9, 2020

We are grateful for the recorders! Since we are in distance learning and our school is unable to distribute materials at this point my students have not received their recorder yet.

However, they are excited and full of gratitude for your donation. They have been learning to play instruments online, thanks to our great music teacher. I am positive their learned skills will transfer to the actual recorder once they are able to receive them.

You have brightened their days knowing that generous people like you exist amongst all the negativity going on in our world.”

  • Learning Out of Our Seats!

    Funded Jul 30, 2019

We are grateful for the lap desks, post-its, and markers your donation has allowed us to have in our classroom. My students were fascinated and eager to use them all. These materials have been used on a daily basis to make learning accessible.

We use the post-it posters to keep track of our learning and students are constantly referring to previous learning written on these post-its in our classroom. The dry erase markers are used daily during our math time. Using a sheet protector students are able to write equations and use their marker, therefore saving copies of paper. The portable lap desks have been a big success in students learning comfortably. They enjoy using them throughout the day when they are not sitting at their desks.

Thank you again for your contribution, and making my students days brighter and more enjoyable to be in our classroom.”

  • Imagine That, Using A 3Doodler!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

The 3Doodler pens we received thanks to you have made a great impact in my classroom. For many of my students this was their first experience with 3D pens. They were intrigued and they implemented what they have been learning about growth mindset. Though they struggled at first to handle the pens they persevered and ended with inspiring creations.

My students all had wonderful ideas for using these 3Doodlers during our Engineering time. They will continue to use these pens to create structures, bridges, jewelry, and stories.

Thank you for this unique experience and helping me ignite creativity in our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reyes

  • Becoming Illustrators and Authors

    Funded Nov 28, 2017

I am very grateful for your donation to our project. My students were able to use the printer to get their stories published through and on-line publishing company, Student Treasures. They worked on their stories on line, however they had to draw their own illustrations. Then all 26 of them scanned their artwork to download into the website. None of them had ever scanned a document, so they were pretty amazed at the process.

My students are thrilled to continue to do projects where they will use our new color printer. They are now working on presentations on our body systems and are excited to see their drawings and information come out in color.

Thank you for providing my students with these special moments that they will cherish for years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reyes

  • Many Cultures, One World!

    Funded Jul 6, 2017

I am grateful for your donation to my project. The two Chromebooks have been a great addition to our classroom learning. My students are learning to be respectful digital citizens and are beginning to research and learn from on-line resources.

My students are fascinated to learn about different cultures through digital books and videos. For my students who are struggling readers having the option to learn through videos has empowered them to participate in group discussions. They now also have a voice, and enjoy sharing their learning with their classmates.

Thank you again for your contribution!”

  • Bringing Science to Life!

    Funded Dec 31, 2016

I am truly grateful for this wonderful experience you made possible for our students. We used all the materials you helped purchase to make costumes and props for our musical, Character Matters II. The speakers worked magnificently allowing the audience to hear all the lines and songs our students had memorized.

Though we brought Science to Life in our class, the most memorable would be the musical we performed with other students from kinder to second grade. Our students acted as traditional literature characters to exemplify positive character traits. We had a total of five performances, allowing for the whole school and parents to learn these valuable lessons.

Our students will remember this experience for years to come!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Reyes

My twenty-four fourth grade students are very motivated to become better readers and writers. They have a growth mind set and are eager to learn. They come to school ready to learn and be great citizens in our school community. They have learned that an "I Can't" attitude is not accepted and they must try strategies taught to them to help them succeed. Throughout the day they go above and beyond what is expected of them and they feel pride in their work. They enjoy listening to stories read aloud to them, reading with someone, doing science projects, creating art pieces, playing sports, and working on-line. My students are English Learners and come from homes where English is their second language. We are located in a small city south-east of Los Angeles, California. Our community is predominantly working class and English is a second language to many.
