  • Wobbling and Wondering: Flexible Seating for Science

    Funded Nov 12, 2024

I cannot thank you enough for donating to our classroom to help us purchase flexible seating for my students. When the packages started arriving and the students found out that they would be receiving flexible seating - they were ecstatic. They couldn't wait to open the boxes and put together the desks and put out the seats. They love getting to move the furniture around the classroom and taking turns using it.

I love that that so many of my students are seeing the benefits of flexible seating each day. So many of the students love the wobble stools because they are able to move around while they work. The students enjoy using them because they recognize that they focus better when they are able to move and sit in a comfortable position while learning. They also love them because "They are just really fun to sit on!!". The wobble stools are light and easy to move around the classroom for my students. When we move to work in groups, or gather to the front of the classroom for whole group time, the kids are quick to pick up their wobble seats and easily bring them with them!

The standing desks are a huge hit - the kids love that they are able to easily stand and work. Giving them an opportunity to stretch if needed and keep their mind moving. The kick bands have also been a huge hit. Kids who aren't seated at a wobble stool, have a kick band on their chair. They are constantly in use by busy little feet and legs while their brains are working hard.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart for supporting my students. I cannot express how grateful I am for your generosity to our classroom! THANK YOU!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Naugler

  • Breaking Out of Ordinary Learning with Breakout EDU Boxes!

    Funded Oct 2, 2018

My students and I cannot thank you enough for what you have done for our classroom. You know that your donations helped us to purchase 6 Breakout Edu Boxes for our 4th Grade Science classes - impacting 144 individual students. But maybe what you didn't realize, was how big of an impact you would have.

When I first introduced the Breakout Boxes to the students their excitement was through the roof. From that first class, I knew we had walked into something truly special. The students loved everything about them: the teamwork, the challenges, the puzzles, the riddles, the competition and using their knowledge. Students who often did not want to engage in classwork were engaged. Students who were shy spoke up and shared what they knew. The excitement in the classroom was palpable. That first day was a success in so many ways.

Students asked again and again - "When are we going to Breakout next? Will we do one today? What about tomorrow?" They wanted the challenge - even though they knew it would be tough. They loved stretching their brains. They wanted to see if they could do better than last time - solve faster and harder puzzles.

My favorite success of all of this was the way the students engaged with each other and with the content through the Breakout Boxes. They saw a use for what they were learning, besides taking a test. They felt like they had accomplished something great when they finished or unlocked a lock. Their pride in themselves was earned through hard work.

We've continued to do Breakout Boxes and will continue to all year. The students want to do them for everything they learn - they want the challenge. To provide them with something that helps build not only content knowledge but grit, determination and a love of learning and challenges is immeasurable. I can't describe to you how much I appreciate what you have done for us. My students would say the same thing. Thank you. From the bottom of our hearts, my students and I thank you for what you have done for us.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Naugler

Hello there! My name is Monica Naugler. I teach Fourth grade Science and I am looking to raise money to buy the six Breakout EDU Boxes for my fourth graders. I want to make my Science classroom an engaging and exciting place for my students, and using Breakout Boxes are the perfect way to help! Breakout Boxes are built on the idea that education should be more than just notes and reading; education should be exciting and engaging for students. These boxes allow students to work together to solve puzzles and problems in any subject. Solving them correctly allows them to complete the goal of "breaking out of the box". It encourages teamwork, communication, collaboration, and accuracy. It helps students to see that failure and perseverance are a part of the learning process, and that we can use our failures to help us move towards our goal. When students are working together to complete a Breakout Box challenge they are actively applying their knowledge while working together to practice problem-solving. These boxes create a fun and engaging atmosphere for students! This bundle provides us with six boxes and access to the online platform where I can create new games for my students as well as allow my students to create their own Breakout Box games. Please consider donating so that we can begin using these boxes in our classroom this fall! No donation is too small! Thank you in advance.
