IXL for Closing the Covid Gap!
Funded Dec 10, 2021My students and I appreciate your donations greatly to help fund IXL for our math and ELA classrooms. With a switch in curriculum, we were finding major holes to fill and IXL was just the cure for that situation.
We had been using free trials of IXL for this school year. The day I was able to come in and tell my students that they wouldn't have to start over with a new username and password any more, they were ecstatic! Every time we started a new trial, they had to start their skills learning over again. This was tedious for them and me.
We have used the IXL program for a few things in my classroom. First we use it for reinforcement of grade level skills that I teach daily. This gives extra practice time for the students, and gives me the opportunity to reteach skills through the 'Group Jam' feature. Second, we use IXL for students to work on skills at their own level. This could be skills from lower grades that they may not have solidified yet, or above grade level skills for those students that are meeting grade level expectations. Finally, I use IXL as a diagnostic tool. This allows me to ability group students to reinforce and reteach those skills that students may be struggling with.”

Sharp Pencils+Organization=Classroom Efficiency
Funded Oct 6, 2019Since getting the new supplies to help make our classroom more efficient, my classroom has exploded with learning!
When the new Sharp-Tank Sharpeners were sitting out for the students to see, they were bursting with excitement. Up until this point, they were using 1, off-brand sharpener. That means if they didn't get their pencils sharpened during their break time, they would have to figure out another solution. Now there are no lines for sharpening pencils which means less whispering to borrow hand sharpeners while I am teaching.
The barcode scanner and pocket charts for the library checkout has also made the students more able to borrow books. I checkout nearly double the amount of books from my classroom library, and haven't had a single one come up missing thanks to our new system!!!

Supplies for Math Fun!
Funded Mar 27, 2018Thank you so much for donating to our Math Supplies project. With the new manipulatives, the students are able to get hands on experience with math to make it more than just some numbers on the page. They are able to have a visual representation of percents, decimals, fractions, volume, and so much more. With the buzzers, we are able to make learning math a fun, and even sometimes competitive, experience. The privacy folders are offering the students the chance to focus during not only testing, but while they are working as well. Setting up a safe environment where the students can each feel like they have their own testing space is so important.
We appreciate this so much in our 6th grade math classroom!!!!”

Funded Mar 23, 2016Thank you so much for your donation that made getting covers for our classroom Chromebooks possible!
When the students walked in yesterday and saw blue Chromebooks, it was like they were in Kindergarten again. It was all new to them again, and just that simple thing can rejuvenate learning in pre-teens.
They are so excited when it is their turn on the Chromebooks, and they see how easy they are to operate. A lot of our students don't have WiFi at home, but many have cellular smart phones. In exposing them to math games at school through the Chromebooks, many have started choosing to play those math games at home over other applications on their phones!!!! The game we focus on allows them to level up and there is a classroom competition and leader-board every week. Because they have grown to love this game in school from the use of the Chromebooks, they really want to beat their friends on the leader-board!
Also, on days that we test, the kiddos that get to use the Chromebooks are so super excited to do so! Their tests load faster, they don't have to jump through all the hoops that the school provided netbooks make them jump through, and their tests never crash!

Funded Mar 9, 2016The donations you made to my classroom that enable us to receive four Chromebooks, will benefit my students so much. Since starting my crusade to get Chromebooks for my classroom, the students are not only able to complete assessments without fear of the laptop shutting down, without worrying that the computer will take 20 minutes to start up, and without the complications of having cords stretched throughout the room, but also to use the Chromebooks to play online math games without the game freezing.
The focus group receiving benefits of these computers are what I like to call my 'bubble kids'. They are those students that are not quite to being successful at math, but they are on their way to getting there. Using online math games that they enjoy has made these students more successful and some have even moved up out of the bubble they have been stuck in.
Our classroom thanks you so much for helping to fund this project. My students would not be where they are today in math without donated Chromebooks. Thank you!!”

Beginning of the Year Organization Project
Funded Oct 4, 2014Thank you so much for your donations to my classroom project to organize the wonderful Kindergartners of Room 100! With your donation, my students have been able to transition activities, and store learning tools such as flashcards, right at their tables. The smooth transitions have allowed for more learning time and less behavior issues during transition in our classroom. The students are always excited to store things in their "pockets" at their seats! They are always asking what else they will get to keep in there.
