My students love chatting with friends, making family memories, reading high interest books, and watching great movies. Therefore, the purpose of this project is to bring all of these things together so my readers can enjoy a truly memorable experience. Through this project, students will have the opportunity each quarter to read a high-interest book with a guardian and then attend a movie night featuring the film adaptation of the book. At this event, students and families will also participate in a trivia game with other families who read the same book, enjoy snacks and drinks, and go home with a list of other titles they may enjoy reading together in the future. By donating to our project, you will be giving these students an unforgettable experience that will help them cultivate a life-long love for reading, learning, and building connections with others. In addition, through the carefully selected books for this project, students will learn about the importance of empathy, diversity, team work, and self-confidence. Therefore, not only are we growing readers, but more importantly, we are growing socially responsible human beings.
