I facilitate a classroom which uses technology to teach 50-60 students in each class period. My 7th grade students are always engaged and rush to class because of the positive energy that my co-teacher and I bring and the unique learning environment that has been created to teach Mathematics in the Middle School setting. Students use self-motivation and self-directed learning to grasp math concepts and problem solve. Daily, I put on my cheering gear and spend more time encouraging and providing kind words to student rather than lecture. By doing so, I find that thoughtful gestures and kind words go beyond the classroom and builds character and self-esteem and pushes them beyond their personal limits. These students learn better and are more focused when they take ownership of their own learning. My scores are soaring consistently and I know for a fact these students will exceed my personal expectations by the end of the school year and be ready to take on Algebra in Grade 8.
