Kicking Off School with the Right Tools!
Funded Aug 17, 2019Words cannot express the gratitude that my students and I have for the heartfelt donation you have made. With the money you donated, we were able to purchase all of the centers, baskets, and games for ELA and Math, as well as coding for Computer Science.
When my students saw the materials that were donated they couldn't believe how many we had gotten. The students eagerly await the time of the day for them to play with the stations that include these wonderful items.
When my students saw all the the wonderful donation, they were so excited!!! The book baskets help my students when book shopping. Each basket is labeled with a level or category for them to easily search for books they want. Students are able to shop independently for their books for the week.
Our next step is as a class is incorporating Computer Science and coding into our lessons. I want to show the students how Computer Science can be used into reading, writing, math and science, even social studies. Using the centers for Coding will help while teaching this. We are also focusing on Non-fiction writing and reading. The books that were donated will help us. Students are going to research an animal and write a teaching book about what they learned.
Thank you again for your support!! My class and I truly appreciate your help!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Nikolaou

Funded Jan 1, 2019I am excited to tell you about some of the wonderful things happening in our classroom. We received our books and reading cart the last week in January. When the students saw the book cart and new books, the smiles and excitement in their faces said it all. They couldn't believe that all of these new books were for our classroom. Our students have some wonderful series, such as "Clifford books", "Fly Guy", "Junie B. Jones", etc. We have added interest genre's such as animals, holidays, fairytales, feelings, seasons, etc.
Our daily schedule allows for us to read throughout the day. We dedicate one hour to reading with a reading partner, as well as independently. Our class goes books shopping once each week. With the addition of of the books cart and books, my student can hardly wait to "book shop". They absolutely love to read and are excited to add these "fun" and free choice books to their reading bags.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your donation! Without your contribution to this project, we would not have these wonderful books that my students absolutely love!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Nikolaou
