  • Reading and Literacy Skills in the 21st Century

    Funded Aug 12, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to my project. I use a computer for assessing my students and other students in the school and the touchscreen makes it so much easier. I also use it to find literacy ideas for my students to help with learning letters, reading, rhyming and other literacy skills.

Not only do I use it but my students use it too. It is great for them to be able to use their fingers to trace letters on the screen to help reinforce letter formation after I have shown them how to make letters correctly. They also use this computer for literacy activities and games.

Thank you again for the donation! My students and I love using the touchscreen computer. It has helped make things easier for me by having a touchscreen computer.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nail

  • Learning by Leaps

    Funded Oct 30, 2012

I want to thank you so much for purchasing Leapfrog Leapsters, a Leapfrog Leapster recharger and Leapster educational games to be used with the Leapsters. Technology is such an important part of learning in today's education. It makes learning so much more interesting and fun for my students.

By playing the games on the Leapsters, some of my struggling students have picked up letter and letter sounds they had not previously known. The games have also improved the reading skills of some of my other students.

Thank you for caring about children and their education. Without generous donors like you, my students would not have this technology.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nail

  • Reading With Technology

    Funded Oct 9, 2012

I want to take this time to thank you for being such a generous donor to public education. Because of your generosity, I was able to receive a Barnes & Noble NOOK tablet, Barnes & Noble NOOKcolor eBook reader and tablet screen protective films. Technology is an important piece of education in today's society.

By having a NOOK tablet, my students are able to play phonics and literacy games that are helping to improve their reading skills. They are using the NOOK color eBook reader to read different types of stories and literature. It is also a good way for my students to realize that they don't have to have a book in their hands to read stories. They can read stories using technology.

Thank you for helping public education by your donations. It is truly appreciated.”

    Mrs. Nail

  • Read, Write And Wipe

    Funded Oct 3, 2011

I was so excited when I found out my project had been funded. By having the magnetic write and wipe stand, it is so much easier for me to build a word with the magnetic letters and to show my students how to "break" the words into parts to help them when they are "stuck" on a word. I am also able show them words in a word family and talk about how the words are the same and different.

The students use the stand to make their site words with the magnetic letters and then they write the the site word on the board. This is a great learning tool for the students.

It is so nice to have a place to store my big books also. I no longer have to stand them up against the wall.

Thanks for all you do for classrooms. I really appreciate your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nail

  • Reading Like Kings and Queens

    Funded Sep 26, 2011

I am so excited to see my students wanting to continue to read even when their reading lab time is over. They are so excited to have new books to read with characters that they can relate to.

When they come in for reading lab, there is usually someone that ask if they are going to get to read one of the new books.

These books have made a huge impact on my class. I am so grateful to have donors that know the importance of an education. I appreciate you caring about the future of my students because reading is something they will have to do for a lifetime.

    Thanks again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nail

  • Are You Game?

    Funded Oct 8, 2010

I want to thank you for your generous donation. My students are learning by playing math games and they don't even realize they are learning. They are learning a lot of number skills by having fun. A lot of my students could not count to 10 at the beginning of the year. Most of them can count to 10 and even put their numbers in order. They are also learning how to measure objects and make patterns which in return helps them with reading skills. Your donation is making a tremendous impact in the lives of my students. Thank you so much for your generosity! ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nail

  • Picture Perfect

    Funded Mar 12, 2010

My students are so excited to have received the digital camera. Your donation has helped not only my current students but it will help my future students as well with writing and reading both. They use the camera to take pictures and then they write a story about the picture or pictures they have taken.

As you hear and see everyday, most schools in America are facing tremendous cutbacks and budget shortfalls. Without your generosity to be a donor, my classroom would not have a camera if it weren't for donors like you. Thanks so much for caring about the future of America.

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nail

  • Ready, Set, Let's Read

    Funded Sep 25, 2009

I want to let you know how excited the children were and I was to get the rug for my classroom. We have used it many times already. The children love to sit and buddy read, listen to stories and play games on it. It also helps hide the ugly run in the carpet which is covered by tape.

I feel so fortunate to have received a rug especially when every school district is having such difficult financial times.

Thanks for being such a caring corporate sponsor of education and teachers. It is corporations like Sonic that can and have made a difference for the classroom teachers in my school. Thanks again for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nail
